Second Time - This evening - 3/24/19:
Went back this evening and had their Cashew Chicken. That was wonderful and brought half of it home. Also had their Vegetable Tempura which was a very generous serving and quite yummy and also brought half of it home.
Ordered 2 other dishes 'To Go' and was just now checking the one order which was the 'Masaman Curry'. This dish says it's "roasted beef simmered with homemade curry paste, coconut milk, onion and potato". This is more like a soup as it's more broth based and had only a couple chunks of beef and maybe a half cubed potato which was partially black. This is an expensive dish of $17.95 and no way is this dish worth even half that given the lack of ingredients and the partially black potatoe cubes. Maybe the chef thought no one would notice but this dish was a total ripoff. The other dish I ordered 'to go' was the Panang Curry and that looks definitely better.
I originally gave this place 4 stars after my first visit with a minus 1 star due to slow service. Based on this second visit I took away another star. This last order of the 3 dishes (with 2 of them to go), came to a total of about $66 plus a $13 tip even though the waiter only had to bag 2 of the orders.
This place has great ambience but don't know that I'll be back. Very much a 'Hit or Miss' based on my 2 visits.
Good luck!
First Time:
Went there two nights ago for the first time (this was about 3 weeks ago). It was excellent. Loved the decor. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they really needed an extra person there to keep up with clearing tables. My waitress was very good but over-burdened with trying to keep up with her tables plus bussing and it caused somewhat of a delay in getting drink refills and waiting for her to take my credit card. I had asked her if I should pay up at the register and she said she'd take my check up front but she was so busy with all her other tables plus taking care of 'to go' orders that I finally just brought the check up front myself.
When I was much younger I waited tables at some pretty fancy restaurants out west and the waitress would not have been clearing tables. Either a busser or the host/hostess (if they had time) would have assisted leaving the waitress to focus on providing good table service so just a little...
Read moreI wouldn't even give it a star but I have to. The staff is rude and very unpleasant. I ordered chicken pad thai and shrimp pad thai. Both with extra bean sprouts. I actually drove from Leesburg and waited to order until I got there so it wouldn't get dried out. When I got home, both orders had a few bean sprouts on the side and none throughout the noodles. Also, the noodles were dry and clumped together with no sauce. When I called to complain, they said I would have to bring them back to get my money back. So, I drove another half hour back and showed them my orders to which I was told it was supposed to be dry and they didn't add a lot of sauce and it was my fault for ordering from so far away. As for the beansprouts, she insinuated that I had picked them all out. Why would I waste over 2 hours of my time and money if the dish had been prepared correctly and like it shows in their pictures on their website. Who wants a container of dry, stuck together noodles with no sauce? I ended up getting another dish that was fine but wasn't offered anything to drink while I waited until I asked for it. I was also berated for asking for more fish sauce. I replied that if your food wasn't dry and with no sauce, I wouldn't need fish sauce. Altogether a very disappointing experience. Don't waste your time or money here. Next time I will go back to Thai Luang in Herndon where I know the food is good and the staff friendly and where they don't treat you badly. It took me over 2 hours to get an edible meal..and now it is 9pm and I am no longer hungry so I will have to reheat it tomorrow and hope it tastes OK. I can't even put in words how upset I am over this whole incident and how if you go there, it is at...
Read moreWe had lunch at this Thai restaurant in Reston and were delighted from the moment we walked in until we left. The experience was excellent. The food was terrific, and the chef cooked each dish with masterful skill. We started with fried calamari, which was made from fresh squid and had a clean taste. The bouncing texture was a sign that fresh squid was used to cook it. We also liked the fact that the batter on the squid was thin. The Essan Steak was the star of the meal. The Asian-inspired sauce was used to marinate the steak and grilled to perfection. The asparagus on the side was perfectly steamed without any flavors, which nicely balanced the steak. The steak was so tender when I bit into it. The Drunken Noodle with seafood was also a thumbs up. The spiciness kicked in after a few seconds, but it was pleasant and made it memorable. The Crab Fried Rice was also good. The overall flavor was mild, and it was tasty. The Iced Thai Tea was specially paired well with the food we ordered. It helped reduce the spiciness of the Drunken Noodle. The restaurant was tastefully decorated, and the service was top-notch. We highly recommend...
