The best sushi place in Rexburg is this spot right here. This location used to be the old Wingers restaurant. The restaurant was very neat and clean inside. We went here on a Saturday afternoon and we’re very impressed with the quality of the sushi for the price. The specialty rolls here were $9-12 dollars a roll, very affordable. Many sushi places are much higher than that for specialty rolls. We started with an appetizer called the Lucky Ball. I acknowledge Lucky Ball is $8.99, but you’ve never tried something quite like this before. They deep fry a whole avocado and filled the pit hole with crab and drizzled tasty sauces and roe on top. This appetizer is a MUST. We also ordered many rolls. The Salmon Mango Roll was a simple roll with salmon and a mango drizzle on top, it reminded me of dessert themed rolls. The Rose Roll was only $6.40, but dude. This roll was one of my favorites. The Spider Roll had soft shell crab in it and it was good, but the crunchiness of it might throw people off. This roll also had lettuce in it, which I’ve never seen in sushi before. We also tried the Dynamite Roll. This roll was deep fried and also had a sweet sauce drizzled on it. The Salmon Dream Roll and the Fantasy Roll were my very favorite rolls that I tried. They both contain a lot of raw fish in them and were very good. One of them has a wasabi sauce on it that was very tasty. I want to point out that most rolls has a sauce or two drizzled on them. If you prefer more traditional sushi then you might not enjoy this place as much as I did. I’d say this place is more “Americanized” sushi, but that not a bad thing. I’ve already told family and friends about this place, telling them they have to come here and at least order the Lucky Ball appetizer and a few rolls. Overall, I think this sushi place is amazing and I’m looking forward to when I come back for...
Read moreAlright I’ve had Americanized Asian fast food all over this country. And a Idaho has by far been the worst. But this is better the most of the other ones I’ve tried around, or at least more of the common options I’ve found other places. It is middle of road Americanized Asian food. It is for some reason one of the only places around to get sesame chicken, which is a staple all over the US. The egg drop soup is good but has corn in it which threw me the first time I had it lol. Not sure it they are just trying to be different or what. Miso soup is good. Potstickers/dumplings/gyoza is decent. The chicken Lo Mien could use improvement. Was a let down. Missing Wok Hei! To salty, blank chicken, no pork options which is usually common. It did have an interesting flavor though that others I’ve had did not. The General Tao’s chicken is a bit odd as well. Basically sesame chicken with a bunch of the Asian dried red peppers, which is a little different then any of the others I’ve tried as far as flavor goes. The portions are good though. The service has been pretty good overall. Generally clean. Ambiance is also nice. I prefer booth seating which is lacking around here in a lot of restaurants as most place have open tables, which they also provide if...
Read moreTLDR: Dine in for larger portion sizes. Don't do take out.
We dined in one night, and had take out the next and the biggest disappointment was the difference in meal sizes.
When in person, each entree had a huge plate along with a small bowl of rice. The Mongolian Beef was mainly vegetables and maybe a dozen smaller pieces of beef. The Orange Chicken had roughly 30 pieces of tempura fried chicken in a sauce. Compared to the chicken dish, the beef dish was a let down. We had tempura fried sushi with it and the rolls were HUGE. Much larger than a typical roll. Everything tasted great, and was surprised by the large servings sizes. We ended up taking home orange chicken because we had so much.
In light of the recent dining experience, we decided to get take out. It was a let down. Since the chicken dish dining in was so large, I was planning on splitting the chicken entree with someone. Was surprised when we opened the takeout and the amount of chicken we got was the same amount we took home the other night, maybe a dozen pieces at best and got more rice than when dining in. It tasted great still, but the difference in size...
