TIPS = To Insure Prompt Service The server asked me if I have put tips on the table after I paid for my food! outstanding. I think the owner need to train your servers better be nice, polite, smile and behave to the customers; so they can earn properly TIPS for their service.

I came to Saigon Block with my family many times for the food but the service not impressed me at all.

I came tonight for fermented rice noodle soup, after order, I asked for fish sauce, the server, did not catch his name yet, pause for second and look at me said, "Can you wait for second?" and slowly walked away. The drink had empty, no one has offered to refill, while they standing around the corner doing nothing. I stood up and came to the cashier to pay. When it came to my turn, the bald head gentleman just took care the customer before me, walked out to take care the to-go order while there was no customer pickup yet, without saying a word. What a disrespect! Then the fun part, the server I asked for fish sauce, came to check out for me, he absolutely looked at the screen after I paid, and ask me If I have put tips on the table? What a rude! I do not know if he and the bald head gentleman deserved it?

The food in Saigon Block is above average, but the service is worse. I cam there many times and try to put tips for them but there is nothing to convince me to do so. I pay for what I order but not for the worse service and attitude the servers have offered. So disappointed, and might be this place, the Saigon Block, is not for me and my family any more.

Update 09/17/2022: Surprise, surprise, surprise, my wife and I came back again today after a year to check if things get improvement. We have been served a little better with respectable. I felt better ... but not long, I saw the server guy (who gave me the attitude year ago, asked me for tips, and looked into the cashier screen to check if I included tips on my payment) across the table from far side looked at me and tried to challenge me to see if I stop looking at him. Funny thing was when I paid, he stood at the edge counter and moved slowly to the screen I paid ... same thing, looked into the screen again while other server took care of my payment, unbelieveable this guy he did check if I put tips or not! This guy should learn how to serve in public then he will earn what he deserves. Rude, impolite, disrespect has no room in any...

We came here after mass on New Year Eve and the place was packed. There was a long line, but we got lucky and booked a reservation. They managed to accommodate all 25+ of us along the entire length of the restaurant.

The restaurant looked nicer than the average Vietnamese restaurant with high ceilings and well-coordinated colors. The store was full of Vietnamese so it rung authentic.

I ordered one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes: Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio. This vermicelli bowl topped with charcoal broiled pork and egg roll is a tester dish for me since I have had it at so many restaurants.

The vermicelli met my expectations. The pork was cooked nicely, but didn't have as much char/grilled flavor as I have had at other restaurants. The egg roll was decent and comparable to the others. I enjoyed my meal and will order this again here.

The family ordered 3 sets of Ca Nuong Da Gion (Dut Lo) aka Baked Whole Fish. The fish had plenty of meat and was not overcooked. They came with sides and rice paper. The family ate all 3 sets of fish so they were happy with them.

They also ordered Ba La Lot which is Vietnamese sausage wrapped with betel leaves. They wrap it with wetted rice paper along with pickled veggies and vermicelli noodles. I had one and it tasted good to me though I don't have a history with it to compare. The sausage had the typical meaty bounce one expects from sausage meat. The only difference I noticed was that it was on the fatty side with juices oozing out. It was flavorful, but not my preference.

Despite the chaotic busy night, the store did not pressure us to leave and left us to enjoy our meals. The servers were busy and did their best to help us when needed though like any typical Asian restaurant, they don't check on you so wave to get attention if...

Misleading , Not honest Staff on what I have order on the phone, I have order 5 Large Fry Catfish ( NOT ROAST )on Saturday afternoon and will pick up around 11.30 am Sunday to impress all Friends Out of town that I will get Large Fry Catfish in Garland Area instead take them to this restaurant for Sunday Lunch.

Why I have to Order Fry Catfish ( NOT Roast )TOGO? Because the staff People HAVE NO GUT reserve table for 20 people or more Sunday Lunch .

Before this incident I have Heard the Rumor said, this Restaurant always give you Small Fry Catfish ( What they call Medium ) Instead LARGE if you order TOGO .

I will never believe this incident happen and thought this just a Rumor only, it never happen at all.

But you know what ,Yes it True and happen to me on Sunday 8-11-13, they wait until last minute before Pickup time they let you know it run out the Large FRY Catfish from Last Nite

I ask them why not let me ( Customer ) know Last night or at the time I have call in

They ( staff ) reply will not care ( this our daily business )

They told me Take it or leave it or paid the Xtra one this how their service I have a choice to leave it, they know I (or someone) will not leave without the fish.

When the fish arrive At Home you already know what friend think ? Wife and I will never forgot this incident

Thank...

This is one of the cleanest Vietnamese restaurants in the DFW area. That’s the honest truth and sad to say. A lot of the Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants around town are a tad dingy and need a good scrubbing. The catfish dish is really good and would recommend. Saigon Block is known for this dish. I had the fish before when I came and ate here with my family and really enjoyed it. I went on 08/19 to get some to go food and the place was fairly busy for a Monday. There was a mix crowd of Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese people eating. I ordered bun bo hue and pho. I waited less than 10 minutes for my order and look forwarded to eating it. To go food review to come soon. Well, my fiancé and I had the to go food from Saigon Block. I had the bun bo hue and he had the pho tai bo vien. We shared the goi cuon and nem nuong cuon. The bun bo hue broth was way too salty. I didn’t really have any of it. The noodles, beef, pork, and garnishes were nice, but the broth disappointing. It was spicy, which was nice, but the strong mam smell and the saltiness made the dish slightly edible. I didn’t try the pho or the goi cuon, but the fiancé said he liked them both. I’ll probably give Saigon Block another try. Maybe it was an off day for the bun bo hue.
