Racially biased much? Just wondering about the server September 15th approximately 826pm, who had pranced around the establishment squeezing by, hugging, touching, brushing by the folks the entire night until approximately 1030pm when I left. I am curious because in this loud karaoke filled bar, my friend was ordering 3 waters and 3 drinks from said server, she was about to walk away while my friend was still ordering and he stuck his hand out saying oh wait, she either walking into his finger with her arm or his finger touching her arm like as if an elderly person was at Perkins catching the waitresses attention before leaving to add an item. The server shouts to not touch her or i kick you out,
I was quite baffled with what the heck she was shouting about as I hadn’t witnessed anything inappropriate. She asked me a question and I said I am trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
She repeated it, don’t touch me or I kick you out.
I cancelled my drink and chose not to patronize this behavior. Why?
Because my friend is the only Mexican in this establishment at this moment, and while the server had no issues with anyone else in her brush byes and did not shout this at anyone else, it was just him.
If it’s offensive that someone has touched your arm in the service business at a loud bar on karaoke night, you shouldn’t be a server.
If it’s offensive because he is Mexican, you shouldn’t be a server.
So I watched the server all night, until I have seen enough of her biased behavior. I am sorry that this may offend the regulars and the staff however this needs to be addressed.
The Mexican in the building shouldn’t have been the only person she yelled at that night. Plenty of white dudes and women have also tapped her arm for an order or two that evening along with her brushing her body past singers in the isle way touching them so they know she is coming by.
Just very disappointed. It has been a fun place for karaoke, the friend that accompanied us is a frequent attendee and she loves that bar and is appalled with the behavior herself. She also thought it was quite...
Read moreI live in the area and Sandy’s Tavern has been a frequent go-to place for many years. Although previously it was just a burger joint with 3.2 beer, you were always assured to get a great tasting burger, cold beer and friendly service. New owners took over recently (in 2019 I think) and some things have changed for the better.
The dark and dingy curtains covering the windows have been removed and you now have good sunlight shining through. I don’t think those old curtains had been cleaned in 30 years, so that in itself was a major improvement. The old pool table has been removed and more tables added in that space. The beer menu was greatly improved by replacing the former 3.2 typical Budweiser products with 12 new draft beer options which include some craft beer selections. The new owners wisely have kept the basics of the old menu which was proven and well loved by all. They have introduced some newer items, but the old standbys are still available. The basic Bacon Cheeseburger and the Olive Burger are two of my favorites. Pair either of those with a 1/2 or full order of French Fries and you have a great meal.
A few outside tables and chairs were added when Covid-19 shut most restaurants down. Some new construction outside appears to be adding a newer patio area along the front and side of the building and maybe a ramp to allow wheelchair access to the front door. All these improvements are welcome and frankly, long overdue. The new owners certainly appear to know what they are doing. I hope they keep up...
Read moreFood was 10 out of ten Service was 9 out of ten/ nothing wrong; just giving out a rating. Ambiance was an 11 out of ten, thanks for bringing some nostalgia to my life. Location is good with Richfield being between Minneapolis and Bloomington it's close to everyone. I am extremely pleased to find this place "in-my-back-yard". We ate a hot-dog, cheese curds, impossible burger and a Sandy's signature hamburger and would give the flavor, cook time and order correctness a ten out of ten. A gentleman that took our order was laid back in a good way and got our order correct, the older gentleman greated us nicely. I was here with family but the vibe I saw was a casual place very filled with 81 single-young-adults, although I'm sure through out the night there were couples and other families as well. There is a parking lot in back behind the patio with around twenty some spaces. I'm also happy because my Hispanic date was so satisfied with this Hamburger and commented that this Great Sandy's signature hamburger was the closest thing to a Latino or Mexican street burger 🍔 with it having a good texture of the ground beef patty as if it was molded well, the cheese was very nicely melted and the bun was not overly toasted of too hard. It's the kind of place that could franchise easily but it won't, it could and I am happy that it hasn't, so it remains special; the kind of place that I hope no-one reads this and...
