Eating here is really hit or miss. They sometimes (rarely) have a good, attentive cook on the grill that will get your order right. They more often have a really bad cook that will leave off the jalapeño peppers that you paid extra to get! If you customize your Bacon Deluxe Double Smasher, by adding jalapeños and removing onions and smasher sauce... then they will also for some reason assume that you don't want the lettuce and tomato, and sometimes the BACON.
I like to order in the app to get the drinks and slushes for half price. I will often stop for my "Dinner" at 7am as I'm on my way home from my night shift at work. I keep stopping at this Sonic, because where else can you get a burger at 7am. Here's hoping that one day they will get my burger right. Oh, and also you can expect the outside of your drink to be sticky, which will get your hands, steering wheel, center console etc. sticky also.
They have recently added a few online order pickup stalls right at the entrance. In these stalls they have removed the menu and screen used for traditional ordering. This allows for a little more room if you drive a big truck or suburban.
The carhops are polite and I guess they are doing their level best to keep up with the amount of orders that this Sonic gets during the busy hours. But they really never get your order to you by the expected time on the app. You can expect to put the car in park, turn on an audiobook or something and wait, often 15-20 minutes for your order. You will get the notification on the screen that the carhop is on the way with your order... in the app the order changes from current to past order... the screen will reset for the next customer... and ten minutes later you are wondering if they gave your order to the wrong car, or just forgot about you completely! Hit the button to check on the status of your order and they tell you it will be out shortly... ten minutes later, you get to eat. They realize how long the wait was and are very apologetic, they just need more help. And they shouldn't mark your order as complete, until it is actually complete. I know they are getting scored based on food delivery times and they want it to look like they are doing better than they actually are to...
Read moreEdit: Once again it's almost March of 2023. The buritos have gone up to 3.59, but still mostly bread. I normally go to Florence and will continue. Pearl is great too. I just don't understand. The staff use to be nice too and the girl was very rude and food was cold.
Edit:: Bottom listed 3 years ago and top new as of Sept 5th 2022. Nothing has changed and given this particular sonic in Richland a several times to try. Last night ordered an ultimate burito since they don't put hardly and egg and a dot if sausage on your 4.00 burito, so this meal last night was almost 6.00. The reason I order it is because the one in Florence isn't like that. A few dots of egg and hardly any meat isnt right for tgis price.. The fries tasted like old oil just sitting there. I don't know if they are trying to rip people off or what. Besides that at least the employees are very nice. Was hoping to come back and change my old star. I hate doing it because I give most 5 star reviews
They have great food and service most of the time, but I dont understand the prices increases, but im sure its Corporate. I know they go up every so often sometimes I get a burrito. It's happened twice; however, I have returned for the first time in over a year and I was actually able to order. I sat waiting in my car for my app to load about an hour before I gave up and ordered it myself, which made me pay twice as much for the drinks as I should have(it was an hour before happy hour and if you order not through the app it is not half price.)
