We’ve been here a few times and always enjoyed it but our most recent experience left a bad taste in our mouths. We asked the bartender Alex for the late night hot dog. He responded begrudgingly that it would take a while bc he hadn’t even turned on the machine to cook them and also that they closed in 40 minutes, so he wasn’t planning on turning it on. We were both disappointed bc we felt that 40 minutes wasn’t necessarily long enough to justify not serving us the food but said it’s fine bc we didn’t want to inconvenience him. We both then felt a very standoffish energy from him the rest of the time we were there. He was friendly and open with every other person that came in but (at least what seemed like) deliberately averted our gaze the entire time to the point where we were trying to close out for a while & couldn’t get his attention bc of how strongly he was ignoring us, all the while he’s taking shots w other customers next to us. Idk we’ve both worked in food service so we get it but the whole thing felt very uncool. Not only acting like 40 minutes was too much of an inconvenience to make 2 hotdogs on a little machine but following that up w/ this bizarre hostile energy the rest of the time. Felt weird, very uncool, didn’t appreciate. I hope it isn’t like this next time bc we usually love...
Read moreWhen you walk into Black Lodge, you'll see a sign that reads "Damn Fine," a mantra that guides everything within this little all-day cafe in Scott's Addition. From its neighbor, Brenner Pass, comes a cafe and market.
During the pandemic, there isn't indoor seating, but there are a few tables outside by fire pits keeping you warm. Their food can be ordered for pickup ahead of time or for delivery through Grubhub.
The menu is pretty diverse with burgers, flat breads, salads and more. I ordered the double Smash Burger and I was not disappointed. It tasted like a gourmet Big Mac. My wife's onion and bacon flatbread was good too. Our housemate ordered the celery root salad and said it lacked flavor.
The market sells cans of wine/beer and a few other items.

Read moreThe food is weirdly amazing IMO. We had a shrimp roll that was excellent and a chicken sandwich that is basically Chick-fil-A but better by 100%, it is dangerous knowing that sandwich exists. The drinks are great, I had a frozen fernet + turbo coke and a frozen gin and tonic and both were awesome.
Beer is definitely way overpriced. Imo get the frozen drinks. The novelty is nice and the flavors are good.
I gave the atmosphere 3 stars bc Black Lodge is supposed to be modeled after the twin peaks bar and it's just not. They have a generic building and slapped some things here and there. I'm not even a hardcore Twin Peaks person and NO. Lol. Ok. I'll give 4. The atmosphere is fine, it's a bar where you can hear each other talking and I...
