Bob Evans — Restaurant in Richmond

I have always liked Bob Evans, but today we were not happy. We had to wait a while for a table. They told us it would be just a moment, but it was 10 minutes. I had to ask other people to seat us, but they told us someone would be with us. We were finally seated, and got our food quickly. The food was good, but the wait for a table was uncalled for. Bob Evans, you can do better. UPDATE: August 1, 2022-I went to Bob Evans with my family today. The last time we were there, we weren't happy. The assistant manager came and took our drink orders. He said our server will be with us. I didn't see very many servers. A server did come and take our order, but we had to wait a while for it. I ordered the All American BLT with Fried Egg and French Fries and Diet Pepsi. It was delicious, but messy. We had to wait a while for napkins. The last time I said they could do better, and they still need to make improvements. I hate to see the Bob Evans I've always liked go down hill. UPDATE:. December 12, 2022-My last two reviews did not give a very good impression of Bob Evans, and they still are having problems, 4 months later. When we got there, there was a line, and we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. When we were seated, we were taken care of promptly by a waitress. I ordered the All American BLT with Fried Egg, French Fries, and Diet Pepsi. It was delicious, but not messy like the last time. It seems like they focus more on mobile orders and catering. I don't have the app on my phone, because I live on the south side, and they are on the north side. I am afraid by the time I get my food and get home, the food will be cold. They need to focus on the people in restaurant just as much as the people who place mobile and catering orders. UPDATE: May 24, 2023-The last two times I have been here, I wasn't too happy with Bob Evans. Things have changed. Maybe they read my reviews. We were seated quickly, placed our order quickly, and got our food quickly. It was all delicious! I ordered the All American BLT, French Fries, and Diet Pepsi. I have had it before, and it still good. I am glad they finally got things turned around here. UPDATE: December 12, 2023-I haven't ordered their Country Fried Steak and Eggs in quite a while, so I decided to order it this time, with the eggs fixed scrambled. My side was fresh fruit, which was good, but I didn't like having great big pieces of cantaloupe in it. I ended up cutting it up myself into smaller pieces. My bread was toast. We should have known when we walked in how the service was going to go. We walked in to the hostess freaking out over spilling syrup. She said she would be right with us, but never returned. The manager came over and seated us. Then we got to the table. The waitress was super talkative, but could tell it had been a long irritating day for her. Gave our orders and waited for about an hour. We didnt mind the wait since we were hungry and just wanted to grab food before the long drive home. The place wasnt packed, but it was not slow either. Our food comes out with my husband's food being cold and my daughter's order not being correct. We waited to bring it up to the waitress, but she did not return once we got our food (before the food, did well at refilling our drinks). All of us were needing refills and patiently waiting. My husband gave up and just ate part of his food as well as my daughter eating hers. Waitress comes to us after the majority of us finish our plates (except for my husband) and asks if we are all ok. My husband was visibly upset and just asked for the check. He ealked out while i explained to the waitress what the problem was. She started complaining about the manager not wanting to do anything and how it is his problem with people not doing what they are suppose to do in the back. Honestly, i did not need to heasr about how things were being ran. Anhwho, manager did not come to speak with us but dod refund my husband's meal (which we were not asking for). I gave a 2 star rating instead of 1 since they did comp the meal. Also, my dish, along with our friend's dish, was piping hot and decent. I did not give a higher rating because professionalism did definitely lack overall. To top it off, the waitress made a comment that she can probably figure she wont get a tip. We were already planning on still tipping, but it felt like she was asking us outright. I mean, really? Again, a huge lack of professionalism if you ask me. The food was good, our server was nice, but service was slow. Not by any fault of his own. The place lacked team work!! We walked in I am guessing at shift change over, as a result we were the 1rst of 8 tables being sat every 5 minutes. He was the only one addressing tables. Meanwhile several other servers, walked passed our soups, that sat in the window for 15 minutes, before our other food was sat up in the window, and sat for and additional 8 minutes . Servers just walking by it looking and walking away. I seen two managers " I assume" come from the back to the service area, continued chatting, the one went around to inspect tables so the servers could leave, and the other nonchalantly got our food together, trayed it up and waited for our server to bring us the food. Our server took our order, put our food in , brought us our drinks, rolls, banana bread, and then couldn't make it back to us for 25 minutes.
