Based on all the reviews I read before we stayed at this hotel, I expected worse to be honest. I heard the wifi was bad, but we didn't have any problems with the wifi. I heard the staff could be rude, but we didn't have that problem either. The rate was very reasonable. I think it might be the most affordable place in town (don't quote me on that). Here's what I had a problem with:
The lobby, halls, and especially our room smelled like stale tobacco. We got some air freshener for our room, but every time we left and came back the smell was still there.
The email I got confirming our stay said the security deposit of $200 had to be in cash. When I called to ask them why, a man named Nick told me "don't worry about it." I was not charged a security deposit. While that was simpler, it felt suspicious.
Speaking of suspicious, it has been my experience that hotels charge your card at checkout in case there is a problem. The woman at the front desk charged me at checkin, and she did not explain to me why that had to be so.
The room was not very clean. There was dirt and stains on the walls, in the corners, and even on some of the bedding. My wife had to clean up the room when we were settling in. That should not be her job.
The remote for the television was missing a battery. We didn't ask for one because we didn't need it. We brought our own streaming stick that plugged into the TV and connected to the WiFi.
The refrigerator was missing a leg, and it tipped over onto my foot. We found the missing leg IN the refrigerator.
The survey email I received after checking out had the wrong check-in and check-out times (they were both ahead by one hour). This hotel and my residence are both in the Eastern time zone, so I hope this was an error. I have been checking to make sure this is not a trick so they can charge me extra for a...
Read moreWorst hotel ever! They discriminate against the disabled. If you have a service dog they claim your dog is getting complaints. The maid service cannot read or speak English well so can't tell the difference between Don not disturb and maid service wanted so he just walks in. I was in pajamas, he never stated maid service just walked right in. Called front desk- who btw are VERY rude and SHE just said oh he doesn't understand English he gets confused. No apology. Even though no smoking you WILL smell smoke at some point and very strong ethnic food which was very hard on my allergies and migraines. There is no elevator so if you are handicapped as myself you will not be put on first floor if you need a refrigerator or microwave as only guests on 2nd floor are allowed to have them. They simply said we'll just put your medication in our fridge instead of accommodating me. I said NO THANKS! The owners kids will run up and down hallways screaming and playing and again you will be told owner lives here and can do what they want! Also, don't be fooled in summer by pictures of outside pool- which is filled with stag water and trash right now. They are making it a parking lot. You get 2 towels, 2 hand towels and only got wash cloths once and they are paper thin. Please heed warning and avoid this hotel at all costs if you are planning on staying longer than one night. No breakfast either and the ice machine on 2nd floor has not worked for months- another issue for disabled. The candy machine is filthy and...
Read moreThis place was absolutely awful. Very, very dirty and I would never, ever recommended anyone stay here, even in a pinch. Just go sleep in your car. The housekeeping should be embarrassed and I can only imagine what their homes look like. The building and hallways were dirty like they hadn't vacuumed in months. The room was the worst. The fridge didn't work. I had ants all over my nightstand. The bathroom was filthy!!!! Strangers boogers stuck to the inside of the shower curtain. The bottom of the tub was dirty with black stains, so I wore my sandals in the shower. There were what I believe to be diarrhea drips on the wall right next to the toilet. There was hair and dirt clumped up in every corner. The bed was on a very high platform to where you could crawl under the bed and there was so much dirt and old food under it. Raisins to be particular, which would have killed my dog if he had eaten that from the floor of their "pet-friendly" room. Their bedding and pillows were filthy and stained. The towels were very worn, thin, and stained as well. There's not adequate parking here. If I can find one good thing to say about my stay, it would be that the young man with the red curly hair at check-in was friendly and helpful. And some Red Roof Inn specialist will probably respond to this and say how they strive for excellence and they are so sorry that my stay was bad, and that they will try better in the future but that doesn't do squat for anybody who keeps getting screwed over...
