I do like to see the glass half full so here we go. Just visited there today for lunch based on the location & previous reviews. Well, the fact you can choose your own pasta based off the visual display in the showcase & choose your pasta flavoring was a nice touch. Plus the male front server was friendly. Now, as for the pasta it was ala dente. It was lacking flavor due to the lack of sauce therefore I ordered another cup of sauce ($2). If you're wondering, I ordered the Fresh Mushroom w/ garlic pasta flavoring.
Well, as I was eating at the front booth, a patron walks in with a big dog and stops right at the register as his dog lags behind on leash and the the dog then gives a quick vigorous shake as if he just got out the pool. The problem is this is right by my food.
I played it cool. Immediately wrapped up my food. Left the dog, patron & staff (food & tip is pre-paid before food made). Got home ... couldn't consume what germs the dog may have contaminated my food with if any but I'm skeptical like that. I returned the food & got my money back because of this. Left twice hungry!
So if you like a pet friendly restaurant - this...
Read moreNOTE: Bombolini no longer does dine in or any sort of hot food service. They used to, but have stopped since the pandemic. This review is solely about their homemade pasta products, available for purchase at the store.
We've been a fan of Bombolini pasta since seeing them at the RVA Big Market, so we decided to visit the actual store. It's neat being in the store, because as opposed to the precut and pre-packaged noodles, when you order pasta here, they take out the dough (of whatever flavor you've selected) and cut it fresh. While we were there, they were also making fresh ravioli, which my kids found mezmerizing.
There's a large selection of products in store, from ravioli to lasagna to sauces, drinks, etc. We also picked out some smoked salmon because it's AMAZING (if you haven't tried it, you're missing out), as well as some ravioli from the fridge. If I lived closer, I would definitely come frequently. It's such good quality fresh pasta, and the process was so smooth and simple. If you're in the area and looking for a quick and easy dinner option, you can't go wrong with some fresh pasta,...
Read moreI have been buying Bambolini's pastas and sauces for the last 2 years but always from their booth at the Forest Hills Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. The selection was always deep and the quality excellent. But recently I visited their Main Street store to buy sheets of pasta which I needed to make my grandmother's raviollis. As far as I know, this is the only place in Richmond where sheets of pasta can be found. The store is not very big which makes it even more amazing that so much really great homemade food and wine can be found in a single location. Every type of pasta imaginable, stuffed and plain, along with a nice affordable wine selection and a deli counter are all just a few paces away . Plus the pasta sheets. Bambolini's is a true neighborhood shop with friendly and informative staff stocked with enough fresh homemade pastas and sauces to serve the entire city. Good thing too because it's the only place I know of that...
