Cathedral of the Sacred Heart — Attraction in Richmond

You get glimpses of how spectacular this cathedral is when you look at the outside but nothing really prepares you for the splendor that awaits inside.

Decided to take Mass here as the cathedral was at the time closed at all other times thanks to Covid. (This has since changed ) So glad I took the time to do that. This is a beautiful building and is everything you would expect to find in a catholic house of worship.

I was here for a concert, so I can't speak of the normal church services. The cathedral is beautiful, built in Italian Renaissance Revival style. The acoustics are very good, and the place is beautifully decorated. I have to complain about the seating (the pews), though. They are hard, unpadded wood, at a spine re-align angle that is torturous to sit on for any extended period of time!
