I've eaten in at Susie's three times now and have ordered take out several more. I can say with absolute confidence that this is a jewel in the crown of The Fan's restaurant scene. The vibe is so pleasant, with family friendly dinner hours and indoor and outdoor seating, I love going here with my husband and our young daughter.

My 2 year old is not an adventurous eater by nature. The staples of her diet are applesauce and string cheese. But somehow, someway, the one restaurant where my daughter has consistently tried new foods without protest is Susie's. When the restaurant first opened, my girl loved the fried eggplant, and just tonight she ate some of the fried cauliflower (not deep fried but instead cooked in turmeric and absolutely lovely). The only place where my daughter will enjoy pomegranate seeds is in the bright and welcoming dining room of Susie's delicatessen, and my girl loves some latkes (don't we all?).

I am so grateful to have this restaurant where I can enjoy consistently delicious food (I'm impartial to the reuben with French fries. I have no idea what Yael has put in her aioli dipping sauce, but it's light and herby and incredibly addictive) in an inviting atmosphere where I know the food with made with thoughtful intentionality and the staff are happy and respected. I can't wait to go...

Nailed the brisket. Nailed it. And I haven’t had sandwich bread that good in RVA since Zuppa closed its doors back in ‘08.

i was on the original crew at the original Great Bagel and Coffee Company in Phoenix in the early ‘90s, the one that launched the franchise, back when Julius “kid, I was selling bagels out of a shopping cart in East New York for a nickel a dozen” Goldberg was in charge of the dough, and I know a thing or two about Deli. Specifically, I know that many are called, but few are chosen; and I know you can’t spell “Delicious” without it.

When I re-heated the half of my Tony that I tucked away in foil last night, that’s what it was, delicious. Not just delicious. It was stop-talking-and-please-look-away-while-I-eat-this delicious. The bread even kept its crunch. This food is drugs, and some day soon, probably today, I’m going to have to re up....

Ordered the fried eggplant with tahini, pastrami Reuben, the Ronnie, and the Tony. The quality of the food is very good, but our only complaint was that some things were very oversalted. The dressing for the kale salad was very salty and unfortunately the fried eggplant was borderline inedible it was so salty—we thought maybe it had been generously salted to remove excess water before cooking, but then also had a ton of flaky salt at the finish, but maybe it was all from the salt at the end. We’ll definitely be back to try everything else on the menu—fun food, good service, and an...

Totally amazing in every conceivable way. The latkes were mind blowing. The matzoh balls were savory. The pastrami was a religious experience - absolutely on par with Katz’s in NYC and that, my friends, is really saying something. This is the Jewish deli I’ve been wishing into Richmond’s existence for years now. And generous portions on top of all that. Please for the love of all that is good and decent in this world stop reading this review and go there right now.

I absolutely loved Susie‘s! It has been on my list to try for months now and I’m so glad I finally made it, and I will definitely be going back very soon! It was a mix of homemade traditional and cute and trendy. I got the seasonal tomato sandwich with halloumi on it, and it was out of this world! I highly suggest substituting your chips for fries, because these are some of the best fries I’ve had in Richmond! I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Wonderful little spot in Richmond. We had the latkes and two sandwiches, the Sharona and the Shelly, both of which were very tasty. My small complaint about the latkes is that they were too salty and one was fried to the point that some parts of it had a burnt taste. Otherwise they were very good. The sandwiches were stuffed full and everything was very good! Definitely want to come back and try the matzah ball soup and more sandwiches!
