Food here is amazing if you like dumplings (like momos) and meat. Every meat dish I've had so far has been tender and hearty. And every dumpling dish has been rich and flavorful. The amount of food is very large compared to the cost ($14-18 a dish?). Every dine-in order comes with what I think is their own homemade hot sauce, which adds great flavor complexity to the dishes. Just be warned that the hot sauce is really spicy.
Only reason I give them a 4 star rather than 5 is that their service can be really slow, and their food can sometimes be inconsistent. The dishes taste great either way, but the variations in the same dish have made me baffled a few times. If you aren't in a rush though, definitely a good eat. Make sure to order some...
Read moreSo I'm noticing they deleted my review I made about three weeks ago. Now let me tell you why they did for the second time. My food was over cooked and tasted as if it was frozen pre made or something. The meat's were very flavorless and when I say no flavor I mean salt only. Not to mention I payed $50 dollars for two plates and a side! The dumplings were also sitting in water while in the container and every single one was burst open. The spicy pork was super hot yet no flavor I can't explain how disgusting the food was. Last but not least the dipping sauces were literally crushed peppers and nothing more, I'm talking hottest thing I've ran into in a while and flavorless and disgusting. I'll never go back. It was my first time...
Read moreI know nothing about Mongolian food but I heard a rave review by KQED's food editor, Luke Tsai, so I gave it a try. I thru a dart blindfolded at the menu and ordered Shapta, spicy stir-fried beef strips with rice, cucumber tomato salad and two steamed wheat buns ($12). Ample portions, the Shapta could feed two people. Meat was a little chewy but tasty otherwise and not super fiery. All-you-can-drink, never-had-before milk tea is warm, milky but not rich and a touch salty so it cuts the spiciness of the beef. The helpful lady who took my order and my money doesn't speak lots of English but enough and there are pictures of all the dishes on the walls. I will go again soon to try the momo dumplings and...
