Trina poured me a nice Guinness. 10/10 will continue to drink beer here.
11/23: Also, super generous water pours. Thanks Glenn. (Sorry for spelling your name wrong Glenn)
11/24: Hardwood GBS was good but the pen Bryce gave me leaked on my hand. We are slowly trending towards 4 stars.
11/29: Came for the tech game. Was 7/10 Jerk Brown's but Danielle was literally the nicest ever to us. Literally an angel.
11/30: Bryce made a typo on Cory's saint day menu, essentially ruining the entire day. Thanks Bryce.
12/2: Jackie recommended a Terrapin beer to me that I'm like 80% sure she'd never tried. It was great, but I'm still wary. I've been hurt before.
12/4: Gabe spilled beer on his shirt but wouldn't take it off when I asked him. 1/10.
UPDATE: GOT A CHRISTMAS GIFT 10/10 (Ray if you read this, I still paid for the beer)
12/5: Gabe poured me a fantastic black book beer, plus Patty is back, but Vic said she wouldn't sing Dixie Chicks with me. Combined 5/10.
12/7: Post company Christmas party. I haven't been up this late in three years. Staff poured me beers and put up with my incessant yawning. 10/10 good job.
12/31-1/1 Gabe and Erika are great. Served me some great beer and rang in the new year like the piece of trash I am.
1/5 - Drank my 900th beer tonight and Bryce tried to throw away my old card like some kind of goddamned animal. 1/10 I'll come back because I can't quit you but I'm not happy about it.
1/20 - Close the door it's cold out! We're you raised in a barn? Jesus Christ.
2/19 - I haven't been keeping up with these because my mom always said if you don't have anything nice to say about Gabe you shouldn't say anything at all. Also he was covered in beer foam?
2/25 - Bryce got me a "winter warmer" that was actually a pale ale. Danielle knew. Get your shit together Bryce.
2/25 but later - I love you Bryce. I didn't mean what I said before. You and your crew are great.
3/5 Happy Fifth Birthday JBs!!! This place has got everything! Beer, confetti cannons, men dressed as boys, a bartender yelling at a hockey fight...
3/6 Bryce dropped my Oreo. The light has gone out in my life.
6/6 Jesus Christ it's been a minute. Thanks Coronavirus.
9/23 Bryce promised me a beer was going to kick so I got it, EVEN THOUGH I KNEW ISLEY MAKES SHIT BEERS and sure enough it didn't kick and I got a whole sixteen ounces of shitty Jamwich. Thanks Bryce.
12/22 Kat needed another beer and Bryce refused to stop helping other customers to help us. Rudeness is in the eye of the beholder and that was rude for me. 1/10 typical Bryce behavior.
2/21 Gabe gave is a leftover valentine's day candle for our table. Very sexy.
3/5 New management. Place still kind of sucks
10/20 all my friends are gone, maybe I take up stand up comedy?
3/21/25 - ask Peyton...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place, having seen good reviews. The food was okay but the service made me never want to go back again.
The burgers were good, though not the gourmet burgers I was expecting based off the photos on the website. They were small, rather like Five Guys and good, but not worth the price in my opinion ($13 & didn't include a side).
The service was downright rude. I came during off-hours to avoid the rush. There were a few people at the bar, no one at the tables. I found a spot at the bar to place a takeout order. The bartender (a man with longish hair) came over and seemed annoyed right off the bat. I asked to place a take-out order and he pulled out his note pad and stared at me expectantly. He did not offer a menu, and seemed like he wanted to rush the interaction. I asked for a menu and he handed me one silently then stood there and stared me down impatiently while I looked at it. I picked two items quickly, feeling nervous and not sure why this person seemed so angry that I was there. I've worked in the service industry before and can understand being standoffish when a customer was being rude, but this person was treating me with contempt from the getgo, when I had done nothing but walk in and politely ask to place an order.
While printing my receipt he joined a conversation going on further down the bar, ignoring me entirely. This made me feel like he thought I was an inconvenience and made me wonder if he was mad because my coming in had interrupted his conversation. After running my card he angrily tossed the small clipboard with the receipt at me and went back down the bar to chat with other customers. I still left a tip because I was raised that way, but I did not feel comfortable staying at the bar while waiting for my food, as he did not seem intent on offering me any basic service like water, etc. I walked out, thinking I'd meander around and return in 10 minutes or so to check on the order.
I honestly considered not coming back because this person had made me feel so alienated. But I did since I'd already spent money on the food. As I walked back up the street, the bartender came outside with my order. He seemed alarmed that I had left and when he saw me, he came down the street to hand me my order. That showed me that he knows what decent service looks like and that he might have some awareness of having behaved inappropriately. Needless to say though, I will never come back to this place. Even if the food had been a perfect 5/5 it's never worth it to be treated...
Read moreFirst time visit to this burger place based on the fact that it was on the “best burgers” list for Richmond. Drove a long way from Chester to get here, so was really expecting a fantastic burger. I guess I should not have had such high expectations. The burger was definitely disappointing. and the service was OK ! The burger was very small and cooked to the point that it was no longer juicy. It was just dry and well done. You apparently can NOT have it done to your desired level. We saw them staging a burger and fries to take pictures of (I assume for social media) while we were there. . My husband and I actually joked about the fact that the burger looked COMPLETELY different from the burgers that we were served! So much different, so much larger. It was actually given away to a customer who was seated behind us so we were able to see what the burger actually looked like up close as they ate it. The burger was nowhere near what we had been given it was definitely not a true representation . In addition, I felt it was way over priced for what you got. We ordered two simple burgers, and an order of fries that we split. I had a canned beer and my husband had a soda and the bill was over $35 for two people. I have paid a tab before at that level, but got WAY more food /drink for that price point. One last thing on the service, my husband had to resort to getting up and going to the bar to ask for a refill on soda after waiting quite a while to be checked on. In a nutshell I think this is probably a great place maybe for the college crowd who wants to hang out at a bar but if you’re looking for one of the “best burger joints in Richmond, this one is definitely not it!!! I will be moving on to explore and review the rest of the listed “best burger joints in Richmond”. This one definitely disappoints me, and was absolutely not worth the long drive...
