I have adored this place for many years. This is my hometown and over the past weekend I came to visit my parents. I stopped at old Richmond in for takeout on Sunday. I was only taking out but I still left an 18% tip. When I was leaving I noticed my card said $18 tip and then a separate transaction for my bill which was over $54 was also charged. I was picking up late around 8:46 PM and they close on at nine. Additionally I was going to be going back home to Indianapolis and was taking my food to my husband so I said I would call them to inquire about the charges tomorrow.
When I called the young lady answer the phone and said that she was sorry about the situation and would have to have the manager handle it. An individual by the name of Amy Hickman get on the phone when I proceeded to tell her that I think I may have been charged $18 instead of 18%. Amy looked at the bill and said your bill amount was this amount and the tip amount should’ve been this I don’t see a discrepancy. I told her the discrepancy is I didn’t put $18. The tip should have came up to around $9.72 . I told her it could’ve been a harmless mistake but I wanted to check on it. Amy continued to rush me off the phone saying that has to do with your bank and it doesn’t have anything to do with me. I said my bank has never pended any amount more than a dollar. Plus this is a tip that I am checking on, not the bill. A tip. Extra for service. If I want to check on the charge I should be able to without attitude. It gets worse. When I ask why she is rushing me and not taking my concerns seriously Amy says, “what else can I do for you? I don’t have anything to do with the bank and it’s pending right now so you just have to wait.” Then proceeded to hang up the phone. Yes, I was shocked too. What manager hangs up the phone when a customer who is inquiring about the accuracy of a tip I made. My bank said the restaurant could change it if it’s still pending but that it usually doesn’t pend for more than a $1.00.
I called the restaurant back and said I’m not sure if I was hung up on or there was a disconnection but I was talking to a Amy Hickman about my charge. A woman picks up and says I’m Amy Hickman what can I do for you. I ask her Amy did you hang up on me? She began to laugh and said I was harassing her. What?!? Am I in some parallel universe? In what world does a customer call about a charge gets hung up on by the store manager. not for cursing at them, calling them out of their name , or even raising their voice but to discuss an unknown charge. The customer is harassing them! huh?
This was so disappointing because I haven’t had Old Richmond Inn in years and to come back home and to be met with this much rudeness just left a bad taste in my mouth. Still wasn’t able to get anything resolved. Amy is the most unprofessional, incompetent manager I’ve have ever had the misfortune to encounter in my life. Especially at old Richmond Inn. This is not indicative of the service or the hometown charm that...
Read moreUpon arrival, two hostesses scolded us for being 20 minutes late. Rather we had made the reservation for 12:30 knowing it would be a 45 minute drive from Greenville, we left after church at 11:30. We were happy to be there 10 minutes early. When we explained this, rather than assuming the customer is right, they continued to insist we were late but then brushed it off by saying we will seat you. We were a bit surprised by the brusqueness, however eager for the well reputed food and a delightful holiday visit among the three of us. Our server, Misty, was outstanding and begged us to relax, enjoy the food, and take our time. Other servers seemed quite distracted with bustling about the tables, cluttering dishes, and hurrying people with their orders. Misty was very kind and attentive. We had alcoholic drinks, coffee, large entrées and shared a dessert. Our checks were brought, we paid Misty and before we could blink an eye, we were approached by the original hostess asking if everything was alright. We smiled and all agreed heartily. She stood looming over us without a smile and stated that she had people waiting on our table. We hadn't even had time to gather up our coats. She left to return to the phone at her station at the front door. My friend expressed it best. " I have been fine dining across the United States and have never ever been asked to leave." When we left via the front door, the hostess was still on the phone and my friend leaned into her and said, "this is horrible!" The hostess said, "Happy Easter, God bless you", which somehow made her look the righteous one. All three of us were appalled. Had there been a table policy explaining BEFORE seating us that our reservation was for just 60 or 90 minutes, especially on this busy holiday, we certainly would have honored your restaurant's request. As it happened, the humiliation of being asked to leave in the middle of a crowded room, a table to our left being empty and others still seated who had been there when we first arrived.....was no less than the Un-professional rebuke! I am not looking to receive any compensation. I have never written this type of review for any restaurant. However, I am not hiding behind a false name or email address in the event someone would wish...
Read moreThis was the third year we have went here. My son wanted to make it a mother's day tradition. After this year we definitely won't be back! When we arrived they were very busy.. of course it was mothers day, we had a 1pm reservation for 5 adults and a child. We were taken to a dirty table.. which you could see was dirty from the door.. the busser removed the table cloth and set the decorations on the chairs and left. The tables were so packed into the banquet area that people were trying to squeeze around us as we stood for over 25 minutes waiting on someone to come clean it and finish setting it up. They obviously over booked for the amount of staff they had. Finally got seated and got some bread..bread was great.. just didn't realize it was going to take a hour to even get our drinks. Had to ask who our waitress was. Another waitress got our drinks. She could tell we were getting frustrated. Took a hour from the time we sat down for our waitress to come and take our order at this point we decides not to get appetizers.. everyone including our 9 year old ordered a 30 dollar steak meal. Took another 30 minutes to gey our food. We'll half our table got theirs then about 15 minutes the rest got ours. We watched another tables food sit on a tray for over 20 minutes before anyone took it to their table also. All of the meat was over cooked to well done. All of them were ordered medium or medium rare. I sent mine back and received a medium well at best I decided at this point just to eat it. My girlfriend Oscar filet was cold she also returned it to get another medium well steak. The person who brought the replacements brought entire new meals. Then our waitress argues with him that they were just suppose to be replacement steaks not the entire meal.. so they stood there wanting us to pick our steaks off the plates with our hand I guess so they could return the rest.. finally the kid from kitchen just set them down and walked away. We never got any drink refills the entire meal.. I had to give my mother my lemonade so she didn't choke on her steak.. the replacement steaks had no flavor and wer very tough.. 250 dollar meal. Took 3 hours from start to...
