The Factory Bar — Restaurant in Richmond

I left my phone at home which had my vaccine status on it. I told this to the proprietor when I arrived and he said that he couldn’t let me in without proof of a vaccine. I asked if I could just let my friends know that we’re out back (OUTSIDE)that I wouldn’t be able to attend their birthday party. He wouldn’t let me go any further and told me to just call them. (!) My friends who had arrived earlier all just walked in without showing their vaccine status because it was busy. He told me that I shouldn’t be that far inside the door without showing proof of vaccine. I found his attitude to be quite abrasive.

Honestly at this stage in the game I don’t know what having proof of vaccine really gets you. Unvaccinated people are mostly just putting themselves at risk. Masks work. The proprietor was not wearing one. So it appears to be more of a political statement than anything.

After work get-together with Coworkers to celebrate and chit chat about life, work, family, politics, etc. The atmosphere at the factory bar is cozy and vibrant with locals and visiting and enjoying life while sipping a beverage or eating some food. The staff are very friendly and attentive but very busy with all the drink orders and cleaning up. We hung out in the patio area which was nicely decorated and cozy with wooden benches, high tables and chairs, private event area, and music from the speakers around the perimeter of the area. Drinks are good but cocktails are a bit on the tiny side. Wish they were bigger. Their menu offers a variety of beers, cocktails, liquors and other beverages.

Parking is a bit of a challenge with the tiny parking lot and the street parking. There are spots to park, but you have to drive around the side streets to find it. Next door, you can get Mexican food from Tacos el Tucan or from the ice cream and waffle...

It’s very hard for me to put a review so low on a business unless deemed necessary. I walked in after a long day of work only to have the door guy greet me a bit serious. Being new to this place, I ask him how it works and where I could sit. He tells me that we can’t sit in the bar and can sit anywhere. Ok, so we go sit outside. Waited… and waited… 10 min, 15 min..and No service. We decided to walk out, with sadly, a sour taste in our mouth since we didn’t get any service and not one drop of a drink. I truly hope they take into consideration better service. The look of the place is modern and super up-kept but customer service is lacking big time!
