Tokyo Express Hibachi and sushi-Richmond — Restaurant in Richmond

Wow! My husband and I were really impressed with this place! First off, it is obvious that they have spent quite a bit of money on the exterior and interior of the restaurant. The floors, ceiling and lighting look really good. Second, the food was fresh, not over cooked, had lots of broccoli and carrots and great flavors. When I saw the yum-yum sauce in the container, I had high hopes because it did not look like the gross, soy-bean oil junk that a lot of Japanese places are serving. I could actually taste the ginger in the sauce. It reminded me of what you used to get at higher-end Japanese Hibachi style restaurants, but now have to ask for it and it is mostly awful. We also ordered the Catepillar roll and while it was a little heavy on the rice, I thought it was still pretty good, the avacado was fresh and pretty. I ordered a Poke Bowl for my mom; she said it was very fresh, filling and seasoned perfectly. So, way to go Tokyo Express!! Let me preface this with very disappointed. We decided to give them a try. We love sushi however what they call sushi is very pale unappealing pieces of fish. We placed our order and seated ourselves the miso soup was delivered in a plastic bowl and barely warm. Not how you really should eat miso flavor was off. Hoping for good sushi we were delivered our sushi table side three tray had absolutley no ginger or wasabi. They had two different types of soy sauce one regular and one was supposed to be less sodium. Dont use the soy sauce in any quantity it is so salty your palate will be ruined with one dip in the extreme brine of this sauce. I had a whole family visited me last weekend. I had no idea what and where should I get for dinner; a friend of mine shared his great experience and delicious Japanese food from Tokyo Express Hibachi and Richmond Sushi. So I followed her suggestion and ordered multiple kind of dishes here for my entire family (a big family party 🎉 ). - everything single item arrived safely (sushi was all fresh - hot food remained hot) + they arrived on time!!!
