Big Lots — Local services in Richmond

We called all the local Big Lots in 3 counties trying to get a recliner that was on sale for Labor Day. None had it in stock. We were told we could put 25% down and IF one came in they would hold it. none knew when or if they would get it. To order on line there was $149 shipping they didn’t offer site to store. I called multiple times to each store throughout the long weekend. I called corporate office. They said on Wednesday this store in Richmond had it in stock but it was up to the store manager if they would honor the Labor Day sale price. She would not. I was asked if I put down the money to save the sale price. I told them I had not because the recliner we bought from them 2 years ago had broken down and my husband was sitting on a pillow. Since when did Big Lots become ultra boujee? Used to go all the time and figured I’d swing through in hopes of finding an item for cheap today. Upon looking the item I found up for reviews, I saw that Walmart had the same exact item for 7 bucks less 🤬🤬🤬. Which prompted me to look up the other items in my cart that I, like so many others picked up thinking, “it’s Big Lots, this HAS to be the cheapest price around.” NOPE, literally everything was cheaper at Walmart for the same exact item. The average after looking at it all was about two bucks a piece. guess they really pulled that one on us all, make stuff cheap for years then slowly implement the master plan of being higher than target. Yea they achieved it, whoever set those prices HAD to be high. No thank you. Not gonna go to a janky store that I have to bob and weave around like a quarterback to get through the aisles just to pay 2 bucks more on average for...

I was very disappointed this time. We are returning customers who have recently bought a new living room suit. My husband and I were looking for an entertainment/tv stand. The items were being advertised on the Black Friday sale which is going on from 11/16/19 through 12/1/19. Two of the three stands we asked about they didn't have in stock - and didn't know when they would be getting them in. The third one they had one in stock, but it was damaged. Ok, if you want to sell something, Big Lots, you need to have your sale items in stock. If you are currently out of stock on an item, you should at least have a sign on that item saying so.
