The decor alone should have been a red flag for me but my husband said for us to give it a try. I personally had such high hopes due to some of the images posted online but my experience was anything but positive but also I've seen the location multiple times passing by. So these are the following problems we encountered The menu did not show in any place the different drink options My nephew, my husband and I ordered lemonade and they were sad to say the least. You are able to tell that the powder was used to make them which normally I wouldn't have a problem but all servings were inconsistent with flavoring and sweetness My niece (7 yrs old) ordered water as a drink of preference and the waitress was very persistent on getting my niece to order milk or juice The food had no flavor...at all no amount of salt or even ketchup was able to save it The toast was burned The omelet my husband ordered was dry but good amount of cheese The children's menu had a random Batman on it but all the activities on the menu made no sense (there were only 3) For some reason they gave my nephew a children's menu who is well over 5'5 and not childl ooking at all When it was time to leave the waitress made it a point to have a conversation with my niece and had her "promise to come back again". The waitress (while taking our order) forgot our order while writing it down and had to come back to double check our orders which she forgot by the time the food came The home fries that came with my order were warm at best while the ones that came with my husband's order were cold The waitress made it a point to "guess" my race/nationality
I feel like this is a place that definitely is meant for an older generation and not mine or younger. The theme is very much old school "train station" and it just wasn't it for me or my family. All in all I would not...
Read moreThis Diner had been a mainstay in Ridgefiled NJ for quite some time and family owned by the same people during that time which I really commend as I know it was hard for them during COVID which knocked out a lot of small businesses with good people on both ends of the ownership and employee sides. Now, as for the food, it's always been great. Any dish you pick will be fresh, and to be honest, if you don't like it, let them know, you don't have to eat it, send it back. The ownership has enough pride in what they do to always take care of their customers and do right by their patrons. It's classy not crassy. My food recommendations are the meatloaf with mash potatoes, hamburger deluxe with your choice of either fries or onion rings which are absolutely excellent. Their calamari with tomato sauce, grilled chicken souvlaki with a side, chicken fajitas, any pasta dish such as spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parm with your choice of pasta, and so on. Their breakfast needs no help from me, it's excellent as well in any way you desire with crispy bacon, sausages, egg white omelets with cheese or simple Taylor ham and egg any style on your choice of bread style. Salads are incredible as they have a very large selection of "build your own" salad, with a dedicated station of greens, nuts,...
Read moreNormally I have no issues though other times there seems to be communication difficulties and what you order may not come the way you wanted it or could be completely different. Today I ordered bacon 🥓 extra crispy and eggs over easy with rye toast buttered. Well I got that but the bacon and eggs were on top of the two slices of rye bread. I never had bacon and eggs this way.. maybe that's how the server eats it. Anyhow, I had a slice of German chocolate cake afterwards. As I was eating it there was a 2 or three inch piece of wood in it, I thought it wS a piece of coconut so I put it in my mouth, nope it was definitely a wood sliver. The waitress shrugged it off by saying that is what is used to protect the design of the cake in transport. My question is how did it get into the middle of the cake. Any smaller and it could have been stuck in my throat. I left it with the manager who at first didn't think it was such a serious event.. I don't know, maybe this is a regular occurrence. Anyhow, the manager said they would make it up on my next visit.. we'll see but that time may not come...
