The Family and I decided to try a new restaurant today and let’s just say; we’ll definitely be back!
Starting with the Starter! *Prince Edward Island Mussels (5/5) $17 It came in garlic wine broth, diced tomatoes, capers, grilled boule bread. (The wife and I haven’t had mussels in a while, but these didn’t disappoint!😮💨 They were delicious and the grilled boule bread dipped in the garlic wine broth was amazing!)
Entree (🍛)
*Of course the kids had the Kids Pizza and they weren’t small. There was enough for them to take home for later. (5/5) $6 each
*Shrimp & Grits (5/5) $20 It was served with Creamy Parmesan Polenta, tomatoes, and spicy white wine butter sauce.
*Chicken Tuscany (5/5) $19 It was served with a breaded sautéed chicken breast, fettuccine, tomatoes, scallions, mushrooms, herbs, and red wine brown sauce.
🍅(I must mention that our Starter & Entrees did have tomatoes in these dishes. I mean, it’s an Italian restaurant!🤷🏾♂️ We love tomatoes, but others may not. So think about that if you’re planning on going.)🍅
Libations (🥂😮💨💯💪🏾)
*I must note, it did not take forever to get the drinks. They were brought out quickly!
Wedding Cake Martini (5/5) $10 Vanilla Vodka, Tuaca, pineapple juice, splash of cranberry, & simple syrup (You’d think this would be sweet, but it’s balanced very nice.)
Please Don’t Tell (5/5) $10 😮💨 Bulleit rye whiskey, St-Germain, lemon juice, simple syrup, and a splash of champagne (Let me just state, two of these will have you telling everything like you’re on First 48! Two or more of these and you’ll have to be escorted out that establishment!)😅
So here’s my overall Food Review score of Amerigo Italian Restaurant located at (6592 Old Canton Road, Ridgeland, MS 39157).
Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 (Selena S., was ON IT!) Cleanliness: 10/10 (Although it may seem to be a bit dark, but I think it brings a...
Read moreA house full of people. Food plated up right. Full service restaurant and bar.. My appetizer crab cakes were the best part of the meal. My entree was lasagna. Person that brought it out said plate very hot be careful. So I gingerly touched the plate and was looking for heat. Entree was lasagna was barely above room temperature, so much for the hot plate. To be fair over the many years I have only ate there probably no more than half a dozen times but I would remember this is just average food not great not bad. But would always think in my mind when the occasion arose that I would be back at Amerigo's that it was just an off night. Well I was wrong every time I have been at Amerigo's , it has been ho-hum average Italian food. I say this only that when I go out for a meal at a white tablecloth restaurant. I want food that tastes better than I can get at your local grocery store in the Frozen aisle. And I must say my lasagna taste basically what Stouffer's lasagna family pack taste like at the local grocer. I don't mean to be critical in any way but the truth is the truth so this long review basically comes down to this: nice ambience, busy staff, was average food. Now I understand they were hundreds of people there throughout the night but that just tells me that people in the Jackson metro area don't have a good food palette. Now I will say my party of six including me as I looked around the table the steaks looked great and as I inquired about they said the steaks were wonderful so to be fair the steaks look great and were wonderful. So when I want a steak at an Italian restaurant I'll come back...
Read moreThis was my first time my friend and I have been to Amerigo's. We were seated in a booth as requested by us. There were limitations to the menu, as there was an accident at the restaurant and this was the first day they opened up the restaurant since the accident. I was not a fan of the lighting as it was dim and red. The bathrooms were not too clean. I ordered the calamari and bruschetta as appetizers. Our waitress accommodated my calamari request as I only wanted the circular pieces and not the tentacle pieces. The calamari was good, but it was not hot. The brushetta was rated a 3/10 by me and my friend. The bread was soggy and it was drenched in canned tomatoes. I ordered the goat and penne pasta and I asked for pesto sauce to be placed in it. My friend ordered a shrimp pasta that was supposed to have a spicy kick to it. The goat and penne pasta was okay. The shrimp pasta was horrible. Our waitress was nice enough to take it away and told us to order something else off the menu. Unfortunately, we were not interested in getting anything else. Was this just a bad day for the restaurant with their new opening? Can't say, but not sure if I'd go back here again. I might try...
