Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Ridgeland

I arrived at the restaurant and the greeter was very friendly. Myself and a friend were seated for 10 mins and the greeter had the flag and wave to the server Antoine to let him know that we were waiting. He took our order abd walked away. Within 5 minutes later a nice young lady from the bar walked over and said how can I help you guys this evening? We said the guy Antoine just took our order. She said I'm sorry he didn't take it. So to my astonishment he just stood there with 2 pencils or pens in his head and listened to me for nothing. Which by the way is unsanitary to touch your hair and someone's food, I know because I also manage a local restaurant. He then bused some tables and never washed his hands he pulled out his phone and put it back in his pocket. All by the way is unsanitary. Then when the food comes out he not almost knocks our server over and he grabs the plate of food with his hand so as not to make her fall. Great save but he stuck his hand on the inner part of the plate. We brought this to yhe manager's attention and she never apologized. The way she came off....and she may not have meant it that way but was like ...so what did he do wrong. She remade the order after...but I feel she still doesn't realize what was wrong. Our appetizers arrived with no plates or silverware. When our food arrived, we had to ask for forks because we had pasta and steak. On top of that, one of my grandsons order was messed up. He ordered something else. It was a while before we were told that they were out of what he wanted so he ordered something different AGAIN. They took a long time again to tell us that the kitchen was backed up because they were understaffed. We had to leave without his food because everyone else had finished and we were ready to go. I ordered sweet tea. You guessed right. I got unsweetened tea. Of course there was an excuse for that other than "Sorry,I made a mistake. " I asked for a to go box. She brought two, the lid on both was too small and didn't fit. It was just one thing after the other. It seemed like they were only interested in attending to the online orders because there was only one other table that was full and another table had only one person sitting at it. This was one of my favorite restaurants when younger. I stopped eating out as much so really don’t visit very often. Went today because they offered Veterans a free meal. This has been going on for more than a decade but I rarely take the time to enjoy the offer. But I definitely appreciate what they do each year for Veterans. We were also given $5 gift card. This was unique to all establishments and once again very thoughtful!!!!! Someone in corporate really put a lot of thought into what it means to be a Veteran. My cousin and I decided to go together. We had such a great experience as the server was very nice and the atmosphere was very pleasant and clean. The restroom was also clean. I ordered pasta and he ordered chicken fingers. The pasta was very good! They also have 2 Veteran parking spaces which is very thoughtful! We serve during a war and FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE so to go as far as having special parking spaces means a great deal because most establishments don’t do this!!!
