Imagine this. You are chilled to the bone. It is pitch dark (because it is past 5pm in November). You are exhausted after a day of meetings and need to grab your kids a bite before getting one of them to sports activity #2 of the evening. You enter the restaurant and all of your senses are immersed in warmth. Heat, yes. But also a genuine family-warmth that cannot be artificially produced. And then the food comes. Warm, stuffed-to-the-brim flavor-bomb dolmas! A greek salad with tiny fried meatballs that I can't stop thinking about! Solid pita mozz covered in a rust-orange sprinkling! When an establishment cares about the quality of their kids' meals (fresh cut fries with hand-breaded chicken), you know they have the right priorities in mind! If that wasn't enough, the kindest gentleman working there stopped us as my daughter was reading an article about the Olympics. He regaled with stories about his knowledge of discus and his homeland. Then I knew it: This is a place that celebrates food! It is a place that celebrates culture! But, most of all, it is a place that loves and cares for every single person that walks in the door! Go and try the food. You will also...
Read moreI was told by many people in the community to try Yia Yias. I was told they serve very fresh & authentic Greek food with very friendly service. To say the least, I was not misled. My Lunch at yia yias today with my husband is what made our day. It was delicious, it was friendly, it was fast, and my gosh it was authentic. I had the pleasure of meeting the people behind the scenes and they are just the sweetest couple truly wanting to bring actual authentic Greek food to MS. This is not zeeks. This is not even Aladdin. This is family owned, with an apparent warm aura of feeling like you would at home. They have many items on their menu, even some Italian dishes such as eggplant rollatini and chicken Parmesan. I do not doubt they can make delicious Italian dishes... after all, Greeks and us Italians are friendly neighbors of the Mediterranean. I recommend this place with a solid 5 stars and will not be returning to any other “Greek” restaurant. Yia Yia...
Read moreI was in town for work and ordered some takeout from here. I was met with the warm hospitality of "Papou- Greek for grandfather" who is 70 years young and YiaYia's husband of over 50 years. It was such a blessing to talk to him and watch his wife (who is 74) cook all the meals herself in the kitchen-yes she cooks everything herself! She moved liked a 30 year old and had so much passion in her art. Papou showed me his award from the President of Greece for bringing "authentic" Greek food to the states. The President of Greece loved YiaYia's cooking so much he honored them with this state award. Amazing! We talked about life, hospitality and he even gave me excellent marriage advice. Just a great experience connecting with this wise and generous soul. Their food is outstanding too! You can taste the love YiaYia cooks with. If I am ever back anywhere within 100 miles, I will definitely...
