Capitol Deli — Restaurant in Rifle

We went here today on the way through Rifle. We’d been on a long drive and were very hungry and in a bit of a daze. Initially we ordered takeout but realised we needed to eat before setting off on the rest of the journey as we had a way to go. So we asked if we could eat on their covered veranda instead. The woman serving us (sorry I didn’t get her name) was so friendly, kind and patient with us confused English folk. The food was homemade and delicious. It’s immaculate and the decor is cute. I purchased two gyros with sides and a piece of cheesecake and it was a whopping $40! One of the gyros had a long piece of black hair in it. (I have blonde hair and my husband has a shaved head). Also, a piece of lamb in the gyro was inedible and you could not chew it. Yuck! The cheese in the mac and cheese bites did not taste like real cheese. I’m shocked on how much they charge because it’s evident that the majority of their dishes come from a box. All you have to do is look in their kitchen where all the boxes are stored. I will never go back to this...

This is everything a small town deli should be, great food, friendly staff, and a beautiful setting. My waitress was super friendly and suggest I try their daily special which was a roast beef sandwich, which I went with and I have to say I wasn't disappointed at all, I had a side of onion rings as well.
