We don't generally travel with our little dog. But it was Christmas. We were visiting PR for a couple of weeks, and the family was on board about not leaving her behind for that long. So we had the pleasure to bring her. She was a hit in PR. Just about everywhere we went they were super pet-friendly, except for 2 places. Shipwreck was one of them.
It is the same concept as Buena Vibra Restaurant in Cabo Rojo. It's an outdoor venue. The ground is literally gravel. Like Buena Vibra, it is clean. The decor was simple. It was late afternoon/early evening. The sun was out. We'd been hiking all day. Our little dog was tired, and we contained her in a doggy stroller (completely zipped up). However, the hostess gave us a hard time. She said she hoped we had the proper papers, etc., then proceeded to sit us in the back.
Once seated, we ordered a bottle of wine, and Mahi-Mahi Mofongo. It was delicious. When it was time to pay the bill, we were told that their credit card machine was out of service and hadn't been working all day. We feel this is something that should have been disclosed beforehand. Luckily, we had to cash to pay for the meal.
Our experience there was just meh! So I give...
Read moreI am actually shocked this establishment has one good review. This is the first restaurant I have ever walked out of before the entrees arrived. The drinks were awful, how you can’t make a rum runner in the Caribbean at a tourist trap restaurant is beyond me. The Pina Colada was not blended or iced, it was watery and lacked flavor. The calamari sat in the window for 7 mins. I witnessed multiple people talking over our appetizer, and look at it, but no one thought to bring it while it was at best, warm. We then watched our absentee server grab money and dirty dishes from another table, set them down and use her bare hands to toss three lemon wedges on the order. She dropped them at our table, and didn’t return. Soon after another employee rudely walked up and said to my partner “done”? I attempted to tell her we were having issues with the experience as she took the food and walked away. At this point we asked to pay for what had been touched/consumed and we left prior to our entrees arrival. Rude, unsanitary, and very unconcerned. The prices are high, but we expect that and don’t mind on get aways, however the lack of concern makes this establishment one to pass...
Read moreReally good outdoor atmosphere and food. This place had one of the best Mofongo Relleno. The waiter recommended yucca, so we got that with chicken and criollo sauce...amazing! We also had the Mussels in White sauce, salads, zoodles (zucchini noodles), fish taco and fresh grouper, all just as good. The hostess would not seat us since 1 in our party did not have mask, even thou we all are fully vaccinated and had our cards. Once we got all our masks, we realized the whole place had outdoor seating and we literally walked to the nearest table from the host desk and the mask could be taken off. While we were seated there, we saw several other patrons being let in without any masks, and that felt odd. Also, we were told that we had to be done in an hour and a half due to some other big reservation. We were a party of 5 and an hour into us being there we saw several new guests still being allowed to come in. So we tried to not make much of it, enjoyed the...
