I finally got the chance to check out Taste of Tara in Jonesboro, and wow—this place is such a gem! It’s only about 8 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson, which makes it super convenient whether you’re local or just flying in and want a nice brunch spot.
The space is intimate (seating around 50 or so), and the interior is gorgeous with cherry blossoms that give it a southern, almost celebratory vibe. It feels upscale without being stuffy—perfect for a date, brunch with friends, or even a special occasion.
The menu is full of scratch-made dishes, and you can taste the quality in every bite. I love that they do early bird specials—½ off shareables on weekdays before noon and $5 mimosas daily before noon. Such a great deal if you get there early!
The star of the show for me was the 3-Tier Brunch Tower ($99). It’s designed for 2–4 people, but honestly, it’s such a spread I think you could stretch it. It came loaded with croquette bites, Cajun crab dip, deviled eggs, a honey fried chicken biscuit, bacon, sweet jalapeño wings, and the cutest strawberry biscuit waffle. Every layer had something memorable, but the Cajun crab dip and the strawberry waffle were standouts for me.
Service was also spot on—friendly, attentive, and really made the experience feel special. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Taste of Tara if you’re looking for an elevated brunch with a southern twist. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

Read moreMy son and I made a recent visit to Taste of Tara in Jonesboro, Georgia. It was a delightful experience, blending unique culinary offerings with a charming ambiance and a touch of modern innovation.
The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a stunning display of cherry blossom decor. Now, onto the food – and this is where Taste of Tara truly shines. I highly recommend two standout dishes. The salmon and grits is a revelation. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with creamy, savory grits. It's a comforting yet sophisticated dish that I'm still thinking about. Equally impressive was the lemon pepper salmon pasta. The pasta was al dente, and the lemon pepper seasoning on the salmon provided a bright, zesty kick that complemented the richness of the fish without overpowering it. My son will not stop talking about it.
Adding to the unique experience was the service, which was, surprisingly, handled by a robot. It was an interesting and novel touch that didn't detract from the dining experience; if anything, it added a futuristic charm.
Overall, Taste of Tara offers more than just a meal; it provides an experience. It's a must visit when...
Read moreThe food wasn’t good. My friend and I went, I ordered the catfish and she got the jalapeño wings (I think). I also tried the pull-apart bread, and we had two drinks that actually came from next door at Juicy Crab. Honestly, those drinks were the best part of the meal. We even ended up going to Juicy Crab afterward to get more food.
The only nice thing about the place is the setup. When our waitress asked how the food was, my friend said she didn’t really like hers she also had the crab dip, and the waitress replied, “Well, you’re the first one to say that,” almost like she was offended. The crab dip barely had any meat in it; it was mostly just cheese.
Overall, the food was just okay at best. I’d...
