This place is absolutely horrible. We made reservations ahead of time for my cousins birthday it was for Sunday 12pm. We get there and they gave what was supposed to be our section away because supposedly us and the other party had the same name. ( I don't believe it for a second ) so they shoved us in the corner of the restaurant by the restrooms. We had to beg for service. Our server Sandra was absolutely horrible I do not recommend at all. She had the rudest attitude, and we had to get up and ask everyone else for drinks because she wasn't taking care of our party. Mind you there's over 14 of us who are getting charged $40 a piece to have bottomless mimosas that are not bottomless since she's taking over 30 min to check on us every time. I think because the automatic tip she gets she slacked off. Then we asked for one more round of mimosas and I watched the bartender try to give us a whole jug of just orange juice. So I made him go get a bottle of champagne and put some in there, I couldn't believe it. I'm glad I watched him because that was insane. Then our bill comes and it's over $1300. We were all so dissatisfied with where we were sat without even trying to get accommodation for something better, no discount, literally nothing. So I talked to the manager and the best he could do was take $50 off the bill. This place is a literal joke. From the server, to the bartender, to the manager. This is the type of place you should avoid all together. Never ever again. The blonde girl was our server Sandra. In black was the bartender. In grey polo with glasses was the manager. Only come if you want...

I came in for Cinco de Mayo for a drink, I first walked in and sat at a table looking at the menu, when I decided what I wanted I went up to the bar counter to order a drink and this "bartender" with tattoos and gauged ears came up to me and I said "I'd like to order please" and she rudely replied back with "can you move please I am trying to clean the counters" while there was a lady drinking her drink and eating chips and salsa, she didn't tell her to move , so i patiently wait for her to come out and she never asks me what I want to order so i went up to her again and asked i am ready to order and she replies back to me saying if i want to order "to-go" i have to order up frontand i said no i want to order a drink and sit here to drink it not for a "to-go" order (while she is just walking around not really doing anything) so I guess another employee seen me waiting for about 10 minutes(not being helped by the bartender)so he walks over to me to finally ask me what I want to order, I order a drink and wait for another 15 minute and nobody ever came with my drink so I left. I really hope they get a bartender that actually wants to work not just to look pretty with tattoos and gauged ears and piercings. I came there on Cinco de Mayo to celebrate with a drink and the bartender poorly failed that.i hope...

I had the pleasure of experiencing Melanie's exceptional customer service at Kalaveras, and I must say, she truly went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. From the moment we entered the restaurant, her warm and welcoming demeanor set the tone for the evening. Melanie's attentiveness was unparalleled; she paid close attention to our needs and preferences, making insightful recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she gladly accommodated dietary restrictions with ease. Throughout the evening, Melanie consistently checked on us, ensuring our glasses were never empty and that everything was to our satisfaction. What stood out most was Melanie's ability to create a delightful atmosphere, fostering a sense of comfort and enjoyment. Her friendly smile and engaging conversation made us feel like valued guests, and it was evident that she takes great pride in her role. Melanie's exceptional customer service undoubtedly enhanced our dining experience at Kalaveras. Her dedication, knowledge, and genuine passion for her work made a lasting impression. I would highly recommend Kalaveras to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience, and Melanie's presence adds an extra layer of excellence that sets this...

We ordered the two available rolls. They were large enough for sharing despite being considered small plates ($20-$22). I think the extra breading on the outside of the seaweed roll is non-essential but some folk might appreciate the crunchiness. I think it makes for heavy bites. The Kalaveras Salad was good and enough for one person despite being considered a large plate ($14). It contained fresh ingredients. The Mula Oaxaqueña... now that little drink is a spitfire. Woowee! It's a delicious and satisfying mezcal + tequila drink. It's $5 off during happy hour. It was the highlight of the meal. The Mi Novia Fresa margarita was not too sweet and it satisfied the lady's craving. It was soft in flavor but great on impact. The bartender did a fantastic job with drinks. The ambiance is youthful and urban. There's booth seating that surrounds tables that seemingly converts to a club scene. The decor includes neon skulls and flowers that are reminiscent of Day of the Dead. TVs and speakers displaying loud music videos are playing but the jams are poppin'. Overall, we had a good experience. It offers a vibe that isn't readily available elsewhere in Riverside, but the food might benefit from some attention. I wouldn't mind paying extra for more carefully constructed plates.
