Mariscos Espinoza — Restaurant in Riverside

Overall do not recommend. I grew up going here under different management and the food used to be good. Now it’s quite awful and I don’t often write reviews. The taste of the food was really bad. We weren’t the only ones who felt this way. The table next to us also didn’t like their food. We ordered the aguachile which I’d recommend to not try at all. I also ordered their mojarra (fried fish dish) and I truly disliked it. I have to say, I can eat at whole-in-the wall places and also at shacks, but this was quite terrible. The venue itself was really dirty. With so many gals working as waitresses you’d expect a cleaner establishment when there’s a low volume of clients. I typically don’t ask for a discount but I was obliged to do so because it was really not good and my bill was $75 for 2/3 plates tasting nasty. They decided to only discount $2 even though my food was barely touched. Again, I’ve never asked for this before. They claimed I tried the food and that was their excuse for not giving a larger discount. It was overall an upsetting experience.

In sum: nasty food (from a Mexican who can eat at shacks) very unkept / dirty (lots of waitresses and low clients, so not justified) drinks...

Today we visited this Restaurant specifically because it has a very nice appearance both outside and inside clearly a large investment was made to accomplish a upper scale look and feel however the food is considerably low Quality But worse yet is the Experience inside most people go to a Restaurant if course to eat but probably more important to talk to a family member friend or Co worker or simply to enjoy a moment in peace as it turns out that won't happen here the music is absurdly loud you can't hear the waitress or your company because management has decided that you will listen to their choice of music at full blast its very tipical of alot of Restaurants to have some form of background music but I've never ever had an experience like this at Olive garden or Dennys or any reputable Restaurant it's just a shame and a waste of time money and to visit a place you can't enjoy maybe the concept of super loud music works for bars but for a Restaurant where you want to have a conversation this is just not something I willingly...

I’m not one to comment on restaurants but this time I had too. The entrees we received, jaiva and tomatoes salsa were not good at all the tomatoe salsa was tasteless and the jaiva was discusting like it was rotten, Then I got the steak fajitas it was tasteless, once I took the last bite I saw a hair( which can happen to anyone) but it took my appetite away! The rice and beans didn’t have flavor either. Horchata was really plain. My husband got the gobernador tacos and the were missing taste as well! Overall everything was tasteless, took our appetite for the rest of the day! Not going back. We paid $100 and that total hurts when your disappointed...
