My wife & I decided to order carryout from your restaurant 6/4/21. For us this was a big deal because it was my wife's birthday & 2nd it's a challenge for me to convince my wife to order local vs Corporate chain restaurants. I finally convinced her to order local to support local business, especially coming out of this Pandemic & we have an incomplete carry out order but you received Full payment. 1 of her favorite items from a Italian restaurant is the bread. While taking our order the carry out employees verified our order which included the bread. As we check our order(s) before driving off, there was no bread. I immediately called back & was told you were out. I would've appreciated knowing this prior to taking our order, paying in advance & providing a 20% tip or at minimum when bringing the food out to us. This left me livid because most people don't check their orders till they get home & it feels like the hope was we wouldn't notice not receiving what we paid for in advance. After getting home the mood was killed for her birthday because my wife wanted to order elsewhere & I chose your establishment, only to end up disappointing my wife on her birthday. Having worked 17yrs in food service & hospitality prior to transitioning careers a few years ago, these very issues I had 0 tolerance for, as a manager. If you run out of something you tell the customer prior to accepting payment. If you end up 86 an item then you inform the customer when they take their carryout vs hope they don't notice or end up frustrated enough to call Corporate or write a review. Despite my feelings now for your location, I will praise your kitchen staff & cooks for a well prepared meal, as they are the lifeline for any well serviced restaurant. Everything else was a HUGE disappointment & even worse, it'll be 10x harder for me to get my wife to co-sign on another local restaurant for a good long while & that's a shame! I didn't want to be that person having worked in the industry but that really ruined a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I are Italian. My father was born in Italy and my mother was born in America but she didn't speak english until she was five. My mother is no longer with us but her sister who raised my sister and I is now living with my father and myself. That's it. That is my family in Florida, except for my adopted Uncle Jim. All of us know good food. Our problem is that good good, especially Italian food is not easy to find where we live which is in the Sun City, Ruskin, Riverview and Apollo Beach area. So when we find a place to eat, we tend to stick with it. The Vinyards Trattoria and Restaurant has quickly become our go to Italian place to date. There are things that I would change but it has nothing to do with the food. I've met the owner in the past and he was very hospitable. This last visit, we had the executive chef came to our table to speak with us. This was made possible thanks to the owner's excellent choice of general manager. He spoke a little with my father which made me so happy because my father is 90 and only people who have been in the restaurant business know how hard the business really is. The food was delicious, the portions are more than generous and the atmosphere is casual. The restaurant is clean and on the night we were there it was packed. Parking is free and plentiful and it is my opinion that you would enjoy your night here. I have a horrible memory but our waitress was super polite and she really went above and beyond to make our party of five enjoy our evening. Prices are slightly above average but, I think that it is worth it. For reservations, contact the information that you can find on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the worst restaurant experience of my life on Feb 1st at vineyards from 430 to 630. It was for my mother's birthday. We had a large table of people. There were 3 people handling our table, 2 men and 1 woman. The problem was the waitress.
Starts with the menu. Their menu tries to be very Italian so it's massive, hard to read and redundant. I had a 1yr old in my lap which didn't help either. The waitress approaches me, I ask what's her favorite and she says "everything, the menu isn't that big".. I pick something. She then says to the waiter in a nasty tone. "Well I guess they just decided to order entrees all of a sudden".. in a nasty tone. Okay thanks for the help.
Salad family style came around, salad bowls were almost empty and we were running out of room so I was consolidating and stacking bowls, she asked for the salad bowls and I said we may want some later and she goes "no you won't. Just hand them over".
She comes to pick up plates. My cousin hands her the plate and waitress goes "finally someone with some manners".
Another cousin asks for a coke. She goes "finish the one you have. I'll bring one".
The food came out cold. Which maybe with a big party is okay.
My mom had a birthday cake in their fridge. They brought it out lit! I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS IN MY LIFE. My mom's sister, husband and grandchildren were not at the table. Why would you think it's okay to bring a cake out lit Vineyards?? That is not your job.
This restaurant continues to be some of our worst experiences. Please go to cafe Italia or even olive garden and get some real food and quality service. We are never going back, no...
