If I could give zero, I would.
I had a truly disappointing experience at Guakamole’s in West Palm Beach and that’s putting it kindly.
We arrived around 8:25 PM, well before their posted closing time of 9 PM. Out of respect for the staff, I specifically asked if it was okay to still place a to-go order. They assured us they were still open and could serve us, so we proceeded, trying to be as courteous and quick as possible.
I ordered the Carne Asada ($25) and a burrito ($19) — a $50 takeout order. We even requested to sit outside briefly to keep an eye on our bikes, but were told no, so we took it in stride and kept it moving.
From the moment we walked in, the energy was off. The staff gave us odd looks, and the atmosphere was anything but welcoming — and yes, I get it’s close to closing time, but if you agree to serve someone, basic decency shouldn’t be optional.
As we left, we realized they hadn’t even included silverware. When I politely went back to ask, the staff member looked at me oddly before reluctantly handing me a few forks. Again..not exactly hospitable.
But the real slap in the face came when we got back to our car, opened the bag, and discovered that my $25 Carne Asada — was literally just a slab of steak with a smear of guacamole and a single chip on top. No rice. No beans. No sides. Not even a lime wedge. Just… meat in a brown bag…. when the menu calls for all these different sides
At that point, they had closed. I called. No answer. I knocked. Nothing. Radio silence.
When you’re traveling, hungry, and trying to enjoy your night — and you spend $50 only to be handed a disrespectfully incomplete meal it’s not just disappointing. It feels intentional. Almost spiteful. Unfortunately I was unable to go back the next day because that was our last day in West Palm.
I don’t know if they were trying to send a message because we arrived late, but if you’re not willing to serve customers properly, just say so. Don’t smile, take their money, and then completely drop the ball on something as basic as giving them what they paid for.
I won’t be back — and if you value good food, decent service, or even the bare minimum, you...
Read moreThe food quality is poor and it's not authentic. Margarita tasted like those premade mixes that you get at the grocery store. Prices are kind of high for the quality of food and for what you’re getting. Guacamole felt like it was made from the McCormick Guacamole Seasoning Mix, there were no tomatoes, onions, parsley etc. whatever ingredients go into freshly made guacamole. Guacamole was way overpriced, for a medium size (see photo) was $12, but that seemed like a portion for one person, a very small portion. Salsa does not come free with the chips. We had Carne Asada which had strip of beef meat, rice, then something weird, like folded tortilla dipped in some bad tasting brown sauce that tasted like medicine. It also had some weird tasting melted cheese that was supposed to be pepper or onion. There was no salad, salsa, or black beans included in it like in other Mexican restaurants we go to. My salad was average. When we looked around there were all American guests, no Mexican people, so that gave out that this is not an authentic Mexican restaurant. The only good thing is the location, I think that is making them stay in business. Sarah, our server, was very sweet, so we got a good service from her. We also did not like their metal chairs, they are very cold to sit on, especially for the ladies if they are in skirts or if you just came from the beach. We will not dine there again, and we do not...
Read moreThis was the best restaurant my partner and I have been to in this area so far. The place is adorable! It reminded me of my parents home. The decor and the multiple species of plants really made it feel like home.
The service was spectacular from all the staff! They were so sweet and hospitable.
We started with chips and salsa. As a Mexican American / Texan I have high standards for salsa. They have made that standard. The chips were toasted to perfection and the salsa was the perfect type of texture and viscosity for the chip.
We had the fondue too, we added mushroom and it was delicious!
We had enough room in our stomachs for carne asada quesadillas and shrimp enchiladas. I personally liked the green sauce because of the hint of lime in it. It went well with the shrimp enchilada. My partner liked the red sauce, I thought it was good but had a little bit of sweetness that I didn't care much for. Still delicious! We shared the plates. Beans were a little bland, rice was delicious, so we mixed both and it was just perfect!
My partner had a taste agua de Jamaica, I reccomend if you want something refreshing and bold.
The horchata is also a divine gift from the Mexican gods! You have to try it!
We shared a tres leeches cake for dessert, man o man! You have to save room for this one!
We will definitely come back to this cute little friendly ,cute and clean little piece of Mexico...
