China Lite Restaurant — Restaurant in Roanoke

I live near Melrose ave in Roanoke. I have been to China Lite a few times. On my last visit I decided it was my last. Not because of the food. Their food is actually pretty good. Rather because of the unbelievably rude staff here and the way they talked to me. I accidentally did not bring cash. As I was walking to the door I realised it. Before ordering I politely asked them to make an exception and swipe my card just 1 time. The lady, after I explained to her what exception meant, actually told me “just leave ”. I had studied chinese when I lived in Taipei and I tried to talk to her in chinese. She insulted my chinese and said she could not understand anything I said. I was trying to reason with them. Then the other lady, there were 2, approached the counter and asked me if I knew someone named “Michael ” in Roanoke who is their friend and apparently speaks chinese better even than them. She said I should find a tutor to improve my chinese and this “ Michael” apparently could do that. Then she randomly said something about this guy working for a chinese website. WHO CARES?! I asked this other lady if they could make an exception for my card and that i didn't care about that guy. This other lady laughed at me and she said “ CASH ONLY” Then she actually said“GO GET CASH, OK! OR GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ” This was absolutely in the rudest tone I have ever heard. Then she waved me off like I was a fly or something. I walked out teed off without even ordering anything. Never coming back and I won't take their suggestion for whoever “Michael ” is either. Anyone who is friends with them I want nothing to do with them. These people are after your money and they are very rude! I wonder why they won't take cards? Some sort of fraud maybe?!! Terrible people! I have always eaten with them since I moved to Roanoke. Despite how rude and nasty the staff and owners are I put it aside because SOMETIMES the food is really good. However, today is the day of never looking back. I called for a delivery with a $50 the delivery boy tells me they can not take my money because he didn’t have change. (My order was 21.60) Ok, that is fine. After scrabbling and scraping for change the delivery person calls his boss or the store and tells them the situation. He proceeded to tell me that they will not accept my change either. So I call to see if they will just come back out with change.... AND THE BOSS HAS THE AUDACITY TO TELL ME THEY THINK MY MONEY IS FAKE THATS WHY THE DELIVERY PERSON WOULD NOT EXCEPT IT. Are you kidding me? What prompted you to believe such an accusation! I feel humiliated and now appalled! And not to mention another time I got a delivery order from them the delivery boy tried to steal my change and got mad when I asked for it then proceeded to still RUN off with a dollar. These peoples low don’t care about you they just want your money ! And not “these people” as in Chinese, no! THESE PEOPLE AS IN CHINA LITE STAFF !! YOU WERE WARNED !! DONT WASTE...

Went to China lite with my friend who is black. My black friend can speak some mandarin, because she has a chinese boyfriend. The employees here heard her speaking mandarin and said "Just stop. you can't speak chinese.. OK!!" really rudely. They were trying to cut her down for no reason and telling her she couldn't speak mandarin. They told my black friend "You are just lying about having a chinese boyfriend.. if you had one, he would be here.. and you can't speak mandarin, so just stop!" Omg. Someone can't go somewhere with their friend? Just because their boyfriend isn't there means he doesn't exist? Wow.... Smh! &Why wouldn't they be happy hearing her speak mandarin??

The people here seemed to treat my friend differently, because she was black. They also seemed to treat other black guests differently. Don't know if anyone else has had an experience like this here at China lite, but i think they don't seem to like people of color very much... Will probably not...
