Moose & Mollie's Cafe and Gelato — Restaurant in Roanoke

Second time visiting and really enjoy the gelato/sorbet! The gelato selection is 10 or 12 flavors, plus they have many baked goods and food items that we have yet to try. My boyfriend very much enjoyed his raspberry sorbet, but it did have…a hair in it. The staff inside was not wearing gloves/hairnets, which we did realize after the fact upon noticing the hair in the sorbet. It didn’t deter us completely, but thought it was worth noting. The red velvet gelato was good, but not what I expected at all. They do offer samples, which I opted out of, but this selection tasted more like a strawberry shortcake? It tasted less like chocolate and more fruity, plus it has unexpected granules inside that tasted like tiny cookie/cake grains - it was not supposed to have that as far as I was aware. I will not be getting that one again, but did enjoy eating the rest of it. Will be coming...

Went here for first time. Got the chicken club sandwich with chicken and ham. Did not have them add the turkey. I picked potato salad as my side. I also got the Cajun chicken soup. The food tasted great, the atmosphere was great and the worker was knowledgeable and kind. I also got an unsweetened iced tea, but then sweetened it with sugar; not sure why i didn't just get sweet tea. Lol. Tried the red velvet Gelato which was really good as well. If there was one thing to improve on it would be the potato salad. I think it needed something to give it a little zing to take it to the next level. Ohhhhh myyyyy! Moose and Mollies is awesome! Where to start? 2 things ... First, their Gelato selection is ridiculously good! Unique flavors that are much more rich than anywhere I have ever had gelato. Second, they do the best apple pie I have ever had in my life ... and I know apple pie. Home cooked in a cast iron skillet. Nothing short of 4" thick! Drizzled with carmel. Can't even describe how phenomenal it is. If you think you've had good apple pie ... you haven't until you've had Moose & Mollies apple pie! I'll put it up against anyone's in the country! Sorry grandmas everywhere. Also serve coffee drinks, awesome baked goods, pastries, quiches......
