Update 3-11-2023: I should've took my own advice. Gave it another shot. 4ish in the afternoon to beat the dinner rush. We were one of four tables seated. High hopes..... Ordered sodas for the wife and myself with appetizer. Coke was FLAT! It was bad. They then poured 2 more Cokes from cans. They were terrible as well so now I'm thinking it's just me. Ask for a water which I never received. Appetizer was good. Main dish was then served. Wife had chicken and rice with broccoli. Broccoli was great, chicken was bland and the rice was hard grains and undercooked. I had broiled fish, fries and green beans. Fish was wonderful (I was worried after my last experience). Fries were fries. Green beans showed up 15min after everything else, they were okay. All in all, it was not worth the money it cost. I feel terrible leaving bad reviews like this because I feel like a whiner. But it just isn't what it once was. RVI was a great place to eat 30yrs ago. It has since fallen down the list of great places. I would like to say I'm alone in my opinion but I overheard others today having issues as well. I hope they get it together. I just hope that the owners haven't over extended themselves with their other eateries. The Patio is great so we'll just support them from there. BTW, Great artwork by a local artist. I understand prints are available from the artist.

Previous review: After several years staying away from RVI my wife, and friends decided to give it another try. I, along with 4 friends had fish. Myself and 2 others had 3 piece fried with 2 sides. The fish was not good. Edible but seemed like it had been sitting out after being fried. It was tough and rubbery. All 3 agreed. 2 friends had broiled haddock. The comments from them were similar. The main complaint was the fish was dry and rubbery. 1 friend had a salad and fried green beans. She was very pleased. I must agree that the green beans were great. My wife had grilled chicken and she was very pleased. Her meal smelled and looked great. Guess we should've all had chicken. The service was spectacular. 2 very attentive waitresses. I think in the future I'll take my business elsewhere for fish. Pretty disappointing. Hopefully the problem is resolved for future customers of which...

I just left this place.. The only pleasant person was our server. ( which I feel bad for because it wasnt her fault.) We waited a while no big deal it was busy. After being there an hour we asked about our food and our server said it would be there in 10 mins. It was and everything was fine.. Except a different lady brought our food. When she came up she asked who had the wings we pointed to the person. She instantly said, "everyone has to wait 40-45 mins, just so you know!" " WHO had the wings!" I looked at her and said," There is no reason to be rude" Then she slammed the wing plate on the table. She at that point began screaming at me that she was not rude. I'm like yep proving that every second you yell. We left since she was still yelling and I started to yell because I was angry. Whatever... Right?! Except that I forgot my phone.. Sent my husband in to get it.. Because I was so mad that she was so rude.. I didn't want another screaming match. Glad I didn't go because..She stopped from taking another customers order to say to my husband, again with attitude..."Oh she didn't want to come back in huh?" Customer service sucks and not very professional .. Didn't get to even eat the food I waited so long for! Service is super questionable .. Cant speak for the rest.. However, another table left 10mins before we did.. So there apparently are issues...

I USED TO LOVE THIS PLACE.

Over the past few years it's gone downhill so fast. The once "flakey and soft" broiled haddock has been reduced to overcooked and dried out.

I'm not writing this review after just one bad experience (after years of great ones), it's literally been several poor meals in row.

Beyond the fish which they are known for, let's talk about the spinach salad. Once again this USED to be a great salad. Now there is one big problem. THEY SERVE THE SALAD WITH HARD BOILDED EGGS WITH A BROWNISH GREEN CENTER. This again has been an issue over and over again.

I made a really polite phone call to them following the first time it happened a few years ago. I just wanted them to know and wanted nothing in return. They apologized and pretended it was a one time thing. The next four times I went it was the same exact way. DO THEY NOT REALIZE THERE IS BACTERIA THEY CAN MAKE PEOPLE SICK WHEN THEY ARE OVERCOOKED LIKE THIS?

I ordered the eggs on the side of the salad the last few times knowing what I was going to get, and not wanting them to make contact with my spinach.

I am done hoping things will change, and have given up on their overcooked fish and nasty hard boiled eggs which are a major component of the salad.

What a shame, it used...

The place is beautiful. I'll give it that. It is a bit expensive for what you get in my opinion. The food is pretty good. But be careful because they do use a lot of butter. Also, I hope you like your mixed drinks strong. Holy smokes! I felt so bad because I could tell the waitress was really proud... But I could not finish it. 😬 It tasted like straight up gasoline. I'd be willing to give them a second try but, I will not be getting anymore drinks from here... Yikes.

Loved this place. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Loved talking to them and getting to know the town. The food was so good with lots of options at a more the fair pice for the large portions. We got the breaded mushrooms, turkey sandwich with avocados added, fries, union rings, and cheese burger. Protions were so big we had to bring half of it home. We will be back and we're bringing friends.
