Kept driving by this place and it looked like a nice neighborhood diner for locals. I'm a local. Wanted to try something new. So I go in. The server looked surprised I would go in. I guess I don't look like the normal patrons. It was awkward. An old woman and grandson walked in behind me. I turned and made eye contact with her, and her face turned white upon looking at me. Did I turn into a zombie and not realize it yet? Anyways, I look at the menu and see Cheesesteak with a side $11.95. I order that with fries. They have green peppers, not yellow peppers. I let it slide. It takes like 25 mins to make the cheesesteak and fries. She charges me $21. I know inflation is bad but wow. $9.00 whole extra dollars for cheesesteak and fries priced on the menu at $11.95. I guess because I ordered it to go she wanted to make sure there'd be some gratuity added in? I don't know. It was weird, awkward, and I got over charged for my cheesesteak and fries. Btw, the cheesesteak completely fell apart in the roll. A sloppy mess. The ketchup and mayo were provided in packets on the side. Very disappointing. I will continue to drive...
Read moreDaphne's Diner is a Robbinsville GEM. The food is anything BUT ordinary Diner Food. Daphne imparts a spark of creativity and flavor to every dish. Breakfast selections range from Eggs Benedict to EB on steroids with lobster, crab and what not. The omelet selections include broccoli rabe, avocados, various sausage selections and then some. One of my favorite lunch time specials is a turkey burger with pesto sauce ... Yum. The staff is outstanding. The place is small so it's easy for everyone to get to know one another ... and, if you're into BYOB's ... bring your favorite bottle and pair it with her food ...
One other thing - they cater ... They helped me orchestrate a surprise birthday party for my husband. I got him out of the house and they wisked food in at 4 for a party at 5. The selections were outstanding and ordering from Daphne's made the event easy to pull off. They are helping me with a special Derby party menu ......
Read moreThis place is amazing! It used to be on the main drag many years ago, but somehow it lasted over the years. It has great food and super friendly staff. We went in there and I told them that we have never been here before. The server walked us through all the items on the menu and was very friendly.
On the menu they have interesting items that you would not expect at a diner. I had a cajon dish that had crab and eggs. It was great. There are a lot more options too.
Inside the restaurant it is still decorated in the old 1950s style. It has cast aluminum fixtures including doors and trim along the bar. It has classic styling that has years of use, but the restaurant is still clean and in good condition. In one of my photos notice the old table top and the old plastic leather chairs from the 1950s. It is really neat to see this all still...
