Maestro pizza — Restaurant in Rochelle Park

I'm not from the area, but had some time to kill while waiting for my phone to be repaired at the Samsung Service Center in Paramus. So I did what any red-blooded Italian New Jerseyan would do and looked for a local place to enjoy a slice of pizza. When searching on Google Maps for "pizza near me" about 20 places popped up within 2 two miles so I took a moment to scan through the reviews. I came across this pizzeria with a glowing 5.0 STAR rating and immediately decided to head over. In Jersey, we don't mess around with our pie and are home to some of the best pizza restaurants in the WORLD so imagine my excitement to find this "Unicorn" with a perfect score.

That's the long of it, the short of it is simple:

I showed up at a typical glass display counter with about 20 random slices of pizza from whatever was leftover from the lunch crowd about two hours earlier, ordered one plain/one sausage, went to the drink refrigerator to grab a root beer (which they didn't have), paid $10 for the 2 slices & ginger ale, then sat down at one of the six tables and waited for the pizza to heat up. After a few minutes, I received the slices over the counter and took a bite of the plain.... it was bland, hard-crusted, dry, and less than average on its very best day.

Overall, there is nothing particularly "bad" about this place except the very misleading 5-star rating. In the World of NJ pizza, this place ranks in the lower 50% on a "straight-up plain slice". Add the facts that they don't carry root beer, the paper napkins are stacked in a basket next to the cash register (instead of a dispenser), two leftover slices with ginger ale costs $10, and you're left with an overall score in the 2+ star range...

I visited maestro pizzeria a few times and every single time the food is delicious, and fresh.
