This was 2nd time here. The first time was good, but not great. Thought we would give it another try, and well, it was more of the same. The brussel sprout appetizer was amazing! But a lot of places had amazing brussels. I ordered a queen (smaller of the 2 offered) filet medium. It came with TWO cuts in it!! 1st pic. It looked like a letter E for crying out loud. So just for fun to see what it temp it was, I cut into it. Well done of course. It's a filet! Who cuts into a filet?! Our waiter looks surprised when I point it out to him and he takes it away immediately. He brings me a new filet, it does look nice. He waits while I cut into the center and... it's medium rare to rare. Pic 2 I just accepted it, I really just wanted to eat and felt bad for our poor waiter, Chris, who was doing his best! Nice kid. I ate around the edges and it was delicious! I took the rest to my husband who heated it up to a nice medium. The zip sauce is nice, but when it gets in the broccoli and mashed potstoes it make them all taste the same. While nice on the filet, it makes the broccoli and potatoes very salty. The chicken fajitas were good and the ribeye was delcious. There were a few other minor things, but no big deal. We tipped over 20% because Chris did a good job taking care of us, as untrained as he appeared to be. Overall though, it's just average. 🫤 oh! Edit here to say, I watched as a couple sat with their bill and money at the edge of their table. I watched the man politely try and get his waitress' attention 4 times (that I saw) and not once did she acknowledge him! Training is obviously lacking, as is management in general. I noticed there are NO responses from management/owners on any of these reviews. That tells me everything I need to know. I can't blame the staff, they are only as good as the managers...
Read moreCame in today at 6 for my grandmothers birthday. We were sat for 15 minutes before being greeted. When the server finally came, her first words were “ready when you are.” She then took our orders. With some entrees, soup or salad was the option. When we asked what the soup was she said “oh we’re out of soup but we have French onion and chili”. She did not notify anyone that it was an upcharge. Then when some ordered salad she just said “ranch okay?” Instead of offering the options. I ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon. She told me that there was only one kind, to which I said okay, no problem. When it came, it was a white wine. The girl who brought the wine was different from our server. I asked her the type of wine because I thought maybe I would keep it. She said it was Celsius. I asked what kind of wine that was, she did not know. She took the wine away and said she would find out and I said I would just like the Cabernet I ordered. She came back with the white wine and asked if we wanted it anyway, as it would have to be poured out. We said sure why not. She did not say we would be charged for it. Then the food came. The vegetables were barely cooked at all, very hard. When we told our server, she was unconcerned and unapologetic. The walleye was full of bones. The chips were under seasoned and overcooked. When we finally got the bill, the mess up wine was on the bill. I informed the server that we were charged for the wine we did not order. With an attitude she said “well did he drink it?” And I said “well yes, the other girl said we could have it as it would be thrown away anyways”. She took the bill and took it off. Overall completely unpleasant experience with our service. I felt that that was a very dishonest way to try and get us to pay for a wine that was their mistake....
Read moreLast night my family and myself went to Grand Tavern for supper after a long day. Our waiter Xhorxh was absolutely amazing!
Personally, I have dietary restrictions and explained to him that I am unable to have gluten, dairy, or egg. I had already pre-creeped the menu before arriving so I could find a meal that would be easy to hopefully adapt to my dietary restrictions.
After explaining my restrictions Xhorxh was ON IT! He immediately spoke to the chef and the chef adapted my meal to my restrictions. Xhorxh did tell me that there could be a possible cross contamination with gluten on one of my sides and explained that they couldn’t guarantee that that one thing would be gluten free.
Listen, not very often in the service industry do you come across a wait staff member or chef that made sure to cross all of the boxes.
I ordered brussel sprouts as the appetizer without the cheese (I could have had three plates of that it was so good) and the cedar plank salmon and ordered two veggies as my side. IT was DELISH!!!!!
Xhorxh also made sure that our drinks were constantly filled and took amazing care of our family. My MIL even made a comment after we received our meals how she really liked him as a waiter.
I wished we had a Grand Tavern where we lived but unfortunately we are 8 hours away but we will absolutely be back when visiting family! ❤️
Picture is my meal but I had already demolished my...
