I love Meijer; however, today's rating is based on the worst customer service by someone at checkout #13 today at 1:57 p.m. I was told that the produce that I purchased could not be rung up because someone neglected to put a barcode on it. When I asked the cashier if she could call someone to get a price on it, she answered with a stern "NO!" I said, "Really"? as I was surprised by the answer and the tone. She answered again, this time with an evil look, "NO, we don't do that!" I just said, "Okay, I will just have to write a review." She rang up everything and then stepped away from the register for approx. 3 to 4 minutes (there was a line behind me) without any announcement. When she returned, she began to ring up the produce with it dripping from the container. I told her that I didn't want it and told her that I also had coupons. She again gave me an evil look and literally snatched the coupons out of my hands! When I asked her why she did that, she first denied snatching them and then in the same breath sarcastically said, Well, I'm sorry M'aam. I told her that she should be and asked her if the reason for the nasty attitude was because I didn't bag my $300 order while she stepped away. She again sarcastically answered, "No, that's a part of my job (with a smirk on her face) !" I began to walk away, the customer behind me said, "I hope that the rest of your day is better". I told her, "Thank you, I really appreciate that." The cashier did not offer a thank you, have a good day or anything. I heard her get louder with laughter and discussions about the incident with the next customer as if I were at fault. Very unprofessional as I was nothing but professional with her. As I was leaving, I looked at the receipt to find her name for my review and saw Isaiah (knowing that probably wasn't her name) and decided to speak with a manager before leaving the store. Found out that she is a newer employee with the name of Jamie. She needs to learn how to treat customers with respect if she will continue to work there; otherwise, she will either run your customer's away or either meet someone that is not as nice and professional as I was to her and ?????? Upon reviewing my receipt when l got home, I was overcharged for two items and called immediately. Was told to circle them on the receipt and return to customer service on my next visit to correct the issue. Thank you for allowing me to voice...
Read moreWell, in general I have always loved Meijer, from the beginning of me! Though good times and not so good.
Seems like right now, Meijer doing some good things... early closing hours on Thanksgiving, better store layouts, remodeling in some. Yes, in some departments (clothes) may find a little higher pricing (but still will find great sales) but the clothes and the like compared to other mass general merchants are WAY better quality.
Now, specifically Rochester Hills location. Beautiful store. But huge. Some of the item layouts don't make sense to me. Such as if you are in beverage area or paper products and decide to need a gallon of milk or something in freezer, get ready to walk. Just because some items may be grocery related does not mean they are on same side of store. And grocery and freezer items are opposite side and in the Middle of the store. Hmmm.
But I took time to add pluses and minuses, as I was thinking 4 stars just for size, placement of some items, etc. in the end all totaled - store gets 5 stars. Amazingly clean, organized, polite and helpful employees all over, and even a bakery that seems a bit above some other locations. 5 Stars. Great Meijer store.
UPDATE / AMENDED REVIEW (10/10): First time back in this Rochester Hills store in quite awhile. Some changes were made. Great layout. Better sense of departments. And even after a good amount of time the store still looks like it just opened yesterday. To all staff and management, keep up the A+ work -...
Read moreTL:DR Their inventory management system is not equipped to inform consumers about what is in the store. The customer service experience to reach this conclusion is frustrating.
I went into the store to buy a particular knife set but it wasn't on the shelf. I had tried to buy the knife set the day before but I forgot my credit card so I left the set at the register. I went to customer service to ask if the set had been sold or was in some restocking area. The employee asked me for the knife set's upc number. I tell her I don't know what that is or where to find it. She tried to call someone from the home department to find the number but that employee was on register. She tells me she can't help me without the upc and my only option was to go to a different Meijer and hope they had someone who could help or wait an indeterminate ammount of time for the other employee to finish at the register. I tried Meijers website and I could not find the upc so I was more or less up a creek. It was a very frustrating experience. The Meijer is otherwise unremarkable but don't expect much from customer service.
Edit: Called customer service, got told the item was in stock and what specific location the item is at. The item wasn't there. No one in the department could find it. This Meijer does not know what is in their inventory or...
