Asian Express — Restaurant in Rochester Hills

When we ordered, we were told to come in an hour, which seemed a bit long. We showed up an hour later only to find that our order was not ready. In fact, they told us that they canceled one of our dishes since it was “too similar to another one.” Ok…what if I wanted them lol?

Then it turned out that our order didn’t even start yet. So we had to wait another 25 minutes for them to make our order. I ordered over the phone so I didn’t have to sit there and wait for my order to be made.

The only thing stopping me from giving 1 or 2 stars was the fact that the food actually tasted pretty good. We’ll possibly try this place again to give them another chance but the experience and customer service kind of turned me off.

7/22/22 follow up: I ordered again and when I had arrived, my order hadn’t started. Luckily they weren’t too busy and it was cooked up in 5-10 minutes. But I called in to order so I could show up and pick it up immediately and leave, not wait for you to start my order when I arrive. Food was tasty nonetheless. Hands down our favorite Chinese restaurant in Michigan this place is a hidden gem with food that truly shines at a very reasonable price. Broadly, there are two kinds of Chinese food: Authentic Chinese Cuisine & American Chinese Food; this restaurant serves both. Upon entering the restaurant, if you are not Chinese, you may be handed the carryout menu which contains the American-Chinese fare which is typically sweeter, breaded and at other restaurants can be gloopy. I highly recommend you ask for the dine-in menu which contains a cornucopia of authentic Chinese dishes all of which are superbly prepared. Be warned though: authentic Chinese food can be spicy! Once you’ve had the real deal, you will cringe every time you are served typical carryout “Chinese” and, like my wife and I, will be forced to dine at Asian Express! This used to be a go to place, but over the past couple of months it has gone down alot. Not sure if there was a changed in staff/ownership? We normally get the beef fried rice and egg rolls. The egg rolls are still very good, but the fried rice has gone down in flavor dramatically, and our last order was full of egg shells. The egg shell pieces were so big you could visually see them. The meal was inedible! I called them to let them know, but after the employee talked to the owner they stated they would only refund us with the receipt and food in hand, that night. I explained we were unable to go all the way back, (since my hubby picked the food up on his way home from work) I stated we would return the next day with the items. We never received our refund, when my husband returned to the restaurant on his lunch there was a sign saying closed till 2pm.
