We've been to another Detroit Burger Bar location in Lapeer. This one is definitely nicer. They had familiar options on the menu along with options I don't recall being available at the northern location. Depending on what you're going for, if you're looking for a quiet dinner out, this is not your place. If your looking for a fun night or a meeting spot with friends, this could be the spot. Although the noise level is fairly moderate with music pumping in the background, it might hard to hear what everyone is saying. There are LOTS of t.v.'s all around to catch your sports game.
I feel the drink menu options were pretty limited to some sort of martini or a margarita besides beers & wines. We did ask our server if the bar was able to make other drinks & she apologized and said unfortunately no, pretty much just what's on the menu.
We tried a pizza and also a pasta dish. Yes, we're aware it's a "burger bar" and we ordered pizza & pasta?! But, I feel if you're going to offer it on your menu, it should be just as good as well. I had the pesto chicken pasta. It was good. I would've loved some tomatoes or a balsamic glaze drizzled on top & more cheese. The pizza looked better than it really was. It wasn't completely awful, we've had worse, but it's not something we'd get again, or recommend. The sauce was was pretty mediocre & the dough for the crust could use some help.
All the staff we came in contact with were very friendly & helpful.
Next time, we'll stick with burgers as those all looked good and they've been good at the...
Read moreThe menu design had Rams Horn or Coney Island vibes. The cover was great, but the thick laminate and graphic design lacked taste.
I ordered the Rye Old Fashioned which was good.
The margarita pizza lacked the fresh basil, rich sauce and quality cheese you'd expect, and the dough was bland and cardboard-like. I should have taken the hint when the server recommended ...adding pepperoni??? I ate one slice and declined a to-go box. My wife's sliders were ok and my daughter had the kid's spaghetti with a meat sauce that looked a little thick and gave the plate an unappealing and dry appearance. It was also enough for an adult. No bread or garnish.
The service was poor. A food runner set our plates down like we were an inconvenience, attempting to hide an attitude of sorts. My wife's comment to me was "She sounds thrilled to be here."
I love to cook and I cook a lot. I really look forward to sitting down to a nice restaurant meal and I don't put a price on good food or service. I don't have a reason to return to this restaurant given the competition in the area. The...
