This is my first time writing a TripAdvisor review, but the team at Marriott TownePlace Suites near the Mayo Clinic absolutely earned it.||When you’re traveling for medical reasons, it’s never a vacation — and the stress can be overwhelming. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like we could breathe again.||Victor, Chance, and Britta were truly exceptional — warm, professional, and always two steps ahead of what we needed. They stayed in constant communication and flexed around our ever-changing schedule with so much understanding. The biggest blessing was how accommodating they were with our check-in and check-out needs. If my mom was feeling better at the last minute, they made it easy for us to adjust without any extra stress. It wasn’t just about hospitality — it was about genuine care.||The room was spotless and quiet — a true haven after long days. The drivers were also incredible, making countless runs to and from Mayo for us with patience, kindness, and a smile every time. Having a real coffee shop onsite was another huge help — the turmeric ginger latte is definitely worth a try — and the fast Wi-Fi made it easier to sneak in work during the few quiet moments we had. Those little comforts made a world of difference.||In a time when everything felt heavy, the kindness of the entire staff made it lighter.|We are deeply grateful to Victor, Chance, Britta, the amazing shuttle drivers, and everyone at TownePlace Suites. You made a hard trip easier, and we’ll...
Read moreThis location is a mixed bag. The room was big, and comfortable enough. However, the refrigerator leaked each night and left a large puddle on the floor.
Breakfasts were good - a nice selection of food.
I travel a LOT for work (26 weeks per year) so I stay in tons of hotels. This one, despite the food and room, just didn't cut it, and that was 100% on the shoulders of staff. Our company allows $150 including everything - fees, parking, etc.
I booked on the Marriot app. Nothing said, that I saw, about a fee for parking. I go to check out this morning and there's a $24 per night parking fee. Now, i have no issue with the fee, but don't take my reservation, say nothing about the parking fee then stick it to me at the end. I complained and ot a $4 per night reduction from the manager.
The girl at the front desk (not a manager) said, "We have to charge everyone something for parking." Clearly she missed the lecture on Negotiating 101. You don't have to ANYTHING. I wanted to extend, but, because of their (I guess) "company policy" (never say that to me, it just smacks of "I'm too lazy to even care") I booked accommodation elsewhere. So, for their sticking to their guns over parking (which, think about it costs them ZERO), they lost, so far, 3 nights, and likely more. 3x $145 = $435 (at least). Still they have their 5x $20 for parking. What a win....
With Mayo Clinic in town, there are a LOT of other options for staying at. I would highly recommend you...
Read moreI recently stayed at TownePlace Suites in downtown Rochester during a short visit to the Mayo Clinic, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The location couldn’t have been more convenient—just a short walk or a quick complimentary shuttle ride to both the Mayo Clinic and the civic center. The hotel has a modern, clean feel from the moment you walk into the lobby, and the check-in process was quick and friendly.
The room itself felt more like a small apartment than a hotel. I stayed in a studio suite with a full kitchen—stove, microwave, fridge, even utensils—which was perfect for a longer stay. The bed was comfortable, and the layout included a work desk and a cozy couch, which made it easy to relax or get work done. One of my favorite parts was the hot breakfast in the morning—eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, and good coffee. The staff kept everything well-stocked and checked in regularly to make sure guests had what they needed.
Another nice touch was the on-site Spyhouse Coffee shop—great for a late afternoon latte or a light snack. I also appreciated the underground heated parking, especially given the chilly Minnesota mornings. The fitness center was large and better equipped than most hotel gyms I’ve used. Overall, TownePlace Suites exceeded expectations for comfort, convenience, and service. Whether you’re visiting Mayo Clinic or just exploring downtown Rochester, this place offers everything you need for a smooth and...
