My husband and I went out last night to celebrate life and a big one year anniversary of his heart transplant at Mayo. I just have to say how blown away we were by the service, atmosphere and food at The Redwood Room. Our waitress Nicky was amazing, she has been there 11 years and was incredibly kind, engaging and personable. The atmosphere was cozy, beautifully lit and filled with the beautiful sound of live music. The girl singing was so good, sounded so much like my older sister when she sings that it about brought me to tears. We shared conversations of the year anniversary of transplant and all the joys and sorrows, trials and tribulations that have followed. When asked what we were celebrating we shared the story and our waitress was so moved by it she surprised us with a crème brûlée with a candle in it. The anniversary cake at home would have to wait. The food was amazing, every bite better than the last. This place absolutely deserves the 5 star review I’m giving and we can’t wait to go back. We finally have a favorite restaurant in Rochester after 3 years of being here. Wish we hadn’t...

This is one of my favorite places in Rochester to eat! It is in my top 3 and probably my number 1. I always send my out of town friends, family, and customers here. The atmosphere is amazing and it always has live music, and not like a loud band, good acoustic musicians that set a great mood, I especially love when Clay Fulton or Jeremy jewel play! I am confident when I send people here that they can order anything on the menu and it will be amazing, the chicken basilini is my favorite and it is very fairly priced. I always say it is Rochester's best kept secret, I always bring my out of town friends here and it's a great date night or ladies night place, it has the perfect vibe, romantic and personal and easy to have good long conversations with friends and the hubby! We used to eat here at least once a month if not almost weekly but just don't go out as much as we used to but I have been twice this past month, the service is amazing, food and service is some of the best in Rochester and I love the...

The hostess attempted to spread customers out as much as possible. We ate early (530) to avoid peak crowds. Some staff were masked including our server.

We started with fresh bread served with good olive oil and grated parmigiana. Ask for balsamic vinegar if you like it. Then we got the artichoke dip and risotto balls. The menu had many delicious options and two specials, one of which was vegetarian. We opted for the salmon and the ahi tuna. For dessert there were only two options - chocolate peanut butter cake and creme brulee - perhaps to discourage lingering. We happily tried both.

The server was efficient and helpful. We did not have to wait more than a minute or so for anything.

Handicapped access is challenging but not impossible. There is a ramp from the handicapped parking spaces to the main floor and an elevator to get downstairs to the Redwood Room. The biggest challenge is the double set of doors that must be held by someone to allow a wheelchair or scooter or...

Superb food and drinks. Stopped in late on a Friday night, received a warm welcome from the hostess, and despite being busy, had a table within a few minutes. The ambiance is perfect for a speakeasy-style basement bar. Dark wood and thick stools accommodate a dozen or so, while the balance of the restaurant is tables. Our server greeted us with warm bread, olive oil, and cheese, and promptly took our order. The wait for food was short, and it arrived perfectly cooked. I went with the Thai pizza, which was topped well with cilantro, peppers, and a peanut sauce. My wife ordered the salmon with asparagus. The salmon was cooked to perfection. We ordered the Old Fashioned, which was stellar, and a pint of Surly. All in all, it was a meal fit for a king, and priced reasonably well for a high end culinary experience. When we come back to Rochester, we will definitely come here again.

Thank you Bria S. For such great service this evening. It was my husband's 51st birthday and he's not from Minnesota and hasn't eaten at too many places here in Rochester. Bria, you were on top of your game! We have been to many places around Iowa and some in Rochester and there's no one that has came with a refill on soda before we were done with ours. Your recommendation on the Malaysian Vegetable Curry was spot on! The flavors were absolutely 💯 amazing! I had ordered a Castle Danger Cream ale and was brought the Castle Danger IPA on tap instead. I didn't say anything because I actually really liked it! I'm not one to complain anyway.... My husband and I will definitely be back again! Thank you! MaLissa and Tony Schmidt
