My husband and I went out last night to celebrate life and a big one year anniversary of his heart transplant at Mayo. I just have to say how blown away we were by the service, atmosphere and food at The Redwood Room. Our waitress Nicky was amazing, she has been there 11 years and was incredibly kind, engaging and personable. The atmosphere was cozy, beautifully lit and filled with the beautiful sound of live music. The girl singing was so good, sounded so much like my older sister when she sings that it about brought me to tears. We shared conversations of the year anniversary of transplant and all the joys and sorrows, trials and tribulations that have followed. When asked what we were celebrating we shared the story and our waitress was so moved by it she surprised us with a crème brûlée with a candle in it. The anniversary cake at home would have to wait. The food was amazing, every bite better than the last. This place absolutely deserves the 5 star review I’m giving and we can’t wait to go back. We finally have a favorite restaurant in Rochester after 3 years of being here. Wish we hadn’t...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places in Rochester to eat! It is in my top 3 and probably my number 1. I always send my out of town friends, family, and customers here. The atmosphere is amazing and it always has live music, and not like a loud band, good acoustic musicians that set a great mood, I especially love when Clay Fulton or Jeremy jewel play! I am confident when I send people here that they can order anything on the menu and it will be amazing, the chicken basilini is my favorite and it is very fairly priced. I always say it is Rochester's best kept secret, I always bring my out of town friends here and it's a great date night or ladies night place, it has the perfect vibe, romantic and personal and easy to have good long conversations with friends and the hubby! We used to eat here at least once a month if not almost weekly but just don't go out as much as we used to but I have been twice this past month, the service is amazing, food and service is some of the best in Rochester and I love the...
Read moreThe hostess attempted to spread customers out as much as possible. We ate early (530) to avoid peak crowds. Some staff were masked including our server.
We started with fresh bread served with good olive oil and grated parmigiana. Ask for balsamic vinegar if you like it. Then we got the artichoke dip and risotto balls. The menu had many delicious options and two specials, one of which was vegetarian. We opted for the salmon and the ahi tuna. For dessert there were only two options - chocolate peanut butter cake and creme brulee - perhaps to discourage lingering. We happily tried both.
The server was efficient and helpful. We did not have to wait more than a minute or so for anything.
Handicapped access is challenging but not impossible. There is a ramp from the handicapped parking spaces to the main floor and an elevator to get downstairs to the Redwood Room. The biggest challenge is the double set of doors that must be held by someone to allow a wheelchair or scooter or...
