Unassuming local cafe serving authentic Greek cuisine. The front was getting a much needed paint job trimming the white columns and brightening up the exterior and the adjoining enclosed patio. Interior was adorned with traditional paintings, framed art, imported memorabilia, trinkets, racks of wine and even painted ceiling tiles. Limited seating inside and a larger outdoor dining area with a lattice covering overhead. Drinks were promptly brought out with a basket of pita chips and tzatziki, which is a cucumber-yogurt sauce. Love the crisp chips and the creamy sauce which goes so well with so much. Our main entree was the Greek Special with one chicken gyro and one regular gyro. Your choice of French fries, onion rings, or rice. Both gyros came nicely filled, one with chunks of grilled chicken and the other with thin strips of beef and lamb, fresh lettuce, chopped tomatoes and red onions wrapped in soft pita bread. Our side choice was the not-so-original French fries that came as thin sliced strips of potatoes fried and lightly seasoned. Enjoyed every authentic bite, some simply as is and others slathered in yet more tzatziki. Food was good, service friendly and...
Read moreI was tired after a long day of work, was over by the UPS store, and out of the corner of my eye I see this restaurant lit up with a really cool patio. I noticed it was a Greek restaurant which was perfect because I hadn’t had Greek in a very long time. This was divine intervention I swear. It was some of the best food I’ve had PERIOD! And I’m from Portland and eaten at a few James Beard award winning chef’s restaurant. This…this was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The flavor was out of this world and the ingredients tasted so fresh. I was also impressed with the presentation in my to go box. They could’ve phoned it in but it was immaculately put together for me. And the speed at which my food came out. I never review food or restaurants. But I had to come on here and say what an absolute hidden gem this place is. The staff were so nice and helpful as well. I just really can’t say enough about it. Thank you guys for the perfect meal after a long day, it really helped lift my spirits in a way I didn’t know I needed. Thank you very...
Read moreOpa Opa is a fun, quaint, and festive little restaurant with kind and friendly service. From our experience, it was evident they care about their customers. Often it's difficult to find menu items that are gluten free within Greek cuisine, but our visit was delicious as well as gf. The Avgolemono soup is a great start to a meal with its delicate blend of chicken and lemon. With Kalamata olives and Salonika peppers on the side, they provide a mix of meaty texture, vinegar and spicy heat to compliment the more velvety smoothness of the soup. For a gluten free option, I'd suggest the Souvlaki, without the pita which is a shish kabob of charbroiled chicken marinated in lemon, with a rich blend of spice. Our waiter was very attentive and sure to point out other foods we ordered which were not gf, such as the Falafel, which the rest of our table agreed were spiced perfectly! We look forward to...
