One word, DIRTY. We dined in on a Saturday after the morning breakfast rush but before noon lunch rush. Party of 2. We had a 10 minute wait before being seated. While I waited I went to use the restroom. When I walked into the restroom my shoes stuck to the floor. The entire floor was black with debris as if no one mopped the night before or even that morning. The restaurant seemed fully staffed. There were 2 people working the hostess stand, 2 people behind the bar, and 6 or 7 servers on the dining floor. When I returned for the restroom my party was seated already so I went to the table. The booth seat had crumbs, old food, even a ladies hair tie with hair in it. The food menu is a single page and there is a separate single page menu for drink specials. Both menus were sticky and dirty. (They stuck to one another) We already waited 10 mins to be seated and it was getting busy due to it being lunch time. We decided to stay and order food bc we didn't want to get stuck in a lunch rush somewhere else. I ordered the chicken tenders with biscuits and gravy. The meal came with a sunny side up egg, which I asked my server if they could do over medium. She said yes, no problem. Upon receiving my food, all they did was flip the sunny side egg over on to my biscuit to make it look cooked over medium. The white part of the egg was still running and raw. (Hence why I like over medium) The other plate ordered from our table was grits and andoulie sausage with peppers and onions. The grits were MUSHY, similar to slop. The peppers and onions tasted previously frozen (like freezer burn). How hard is it to serve fresh vegetables with a meal. All in all I won't go back to this place. It's over priced and gross. The location and atmosphere of this restaurant should make this a great place to dine. Unfortunately the restaurant was brought down by the lack of care from its staff. My advice, skip it and try...
Read moreI was really excited to try this restaurant out, as I enjoy the one in Charlotte. I was greatly disappointed in the service here. For a relatively new restaurant, I thought for sure that the service would be amazing. Instead, it took 10 minutes before anybody realized we were waiting to be seated. There was a guy waiting there even longer than us to be seated.
Rather than a hostess or waitress, a bartender noticed we were waiting and immediately came over to take care of us. She was pleasant. We were told that our waitress would show up soon and we're handed menus. It then took another 5 minutes before a waitress came to see us. Which was surprising, because the restaurant wasn't very busy at the time.
The waitress was pleasant, but everything took so long. It was a bit frustrating waiting for everything. Even getting the order in took a while. The worst part of the service though, was after getting the ticket, she disappeared for a good 20 minutes, so we were eagerly waiting to pay.
The atmosphere looked nice, but as more people showed up the echo in the place was so loud it was hard to even listen to the people at my table. The restaurant itself was really cold.
The food was good overall. Nothing really amazing, but tasty overall. I didn't think that the prices matched the food. The chocolate chip pancakes for kids is actually just pancakes with some chocolate chips thrown on top with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. I was surprised, because I assumed that the pancakes would have chocolate chips inside of it. The salted caramel cold brew was pretty tasty. The hash brown Benedict Was a lot smaller than I expected, and really could use more Hollandaise sauce as I couldn't...
Read moreTuesday morning - 9am. Crowd - mostly empty. Music - pop/techno dance?? We went to Another Broken Egg Cafe to celebrate my son’s 20th birthday and mentioned to our server that was why we were there. She kindly came out a few minutes afterwards with a complimentary plate of their “Biscuit Beignets” (they were marvelous).
We ordered the Eggs Blackstone Benedict (pictured) and the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. The flavor was not bad but the poached eggs were hardly that! They may have been cooked in water but they were soft-boiled, at best. The side of potatoes was a very small portion, for sure came out of a frozen bag and were ’meh’. I actually loved the portion size. I was sufficiently full after the meal and didn’t need a to-go box, but at $14.97 for my plate, $16.97 for my son’s (small portions, no toast) and $3.99 for my cuppa and $3.59 for his medium cup of milk, I would have preferred the grimace proportions of Cracker Barrel or the amazing taste of “The Little Cafe” down the street. Eggs Up Grill is far better as well.
When it came time to leave, I had mentioned to our server that we needed to get going and could I have the check please? She gave it to me and I didn’t see her again after that. After waiting 10 minutes to pay by card, I finally just pulled cash out of my wallet, put it on the table and left (I was planning to use that cash for something else and now I need to go to the bank again for more).
I was honestly surprised by the whole experience. There is some strong breakfast competition in this town and you gotta come out big if you’re the new kid on the block! 3 stars all...
