Two fridays ago, I decided to stop at Wingbonz located at their Oakland Park residence for dinner after a long day of work. This was only my second time visiting the establishment, but from my previous experience I enjoyed the affordability of their entrees and the size of their wings. I arrived inside of the restaurant at 6:39 PM, placing my order for food and drinks no later than 6:45. After about 5-10 minutes of placing my order, the three tables around me began to fill with parties whom placed their orders and received their meals by 7-7:10. My waitress, Talia continuously checked on the surrounding tables but never stopped to communicate with me about anything happening in the kitchen pertaining to my meal or even a refill. At 7:15, as a waitress walked by my cousin and I asked if she could send over a manager. This happened three times, everytime I asked for a manager Talia (my waitress) would come saying “yes, how can I help you?” But never making clear she was the manager. On the third visit I asked Talia could she send the manager to which she responded, “I’m the manager”. By this time it’s 7:20 and I still have received no food, but the surrounding parties that sat down almost 10 minutes after me received theres almost instantaneously. As I voice the concerns for my wait time, Talia then says she checked for my food but there was a mix up in the flavoring of my wings and they had to create a new batch. Where was this communication from 6:40 to 7:20? After 10 more minutes with no more food, I waved Talia over again to ask for the ETA of the food AGAIN, confused why a remake of wings at a WING ESTABLISHMENT would take 50 minutes to remake. I asked her if we could come with some sort of resolution to make us both happy about the treatment and service I’d received and she said she was send her higher-up to communicate with us. The kitchen manager on shift came out, I expressed to her that I walked into the establishment at 6:40 and that I could prove that by a phone call I had as I walked into the establishment and told her the tables around us sat down atleast 15 minutes after I had and they already received their meals. I voiced that I was understanding of a mishap that happened with the flavoring of wings for a remake of them but I didn’t feel as though it would take a complete hour for a remake of wings. Instead of working with the customer for a solution, the kitchen manager began to be argumentative immediately stating “well I’m confused how you’ve been here for that long when your ticket time was only 22 minutes. Okay cool, you were on the phone at 6:40 but you haven’t been here since then. The surrounding tables sat down before you….” And she continued to go on. It took a white woman that sat at the table to the right of me to jump in telling her that everything I said was correct and that she was being very argumentative when I was just trying to come up with a peaceful solution. She also made the comment that she didn’t want to start using the “R”(acist) word in the establishment. After she jumped in to my defense the manager agreed to give me a discount (25%) but the food still never arrived until 7:45 PM. Although I hadn’t got to experience this establishment as a frequent customer & all it may have to offer, this interaction alone shows this is not the atmosphere where I would like to continue giving my...
Read moreUp until today this was my family’s favorite restaurant for the past 5 or more years. However, after the way we were treated today, we will never be coming back! I made an order on the phone, clearly stated a steak philly wrap. When we picked up the food I saw it was a chicken philly sandwich, we brought it back in and let them know we ordered a “STEAK philly wrap”. No big deal.. we tipped them got our remake and left. I checked the box when I got in my car, they had obviously taken the lazy route (I have worked in restaurants for 10 years so I know how it goes) and they had transferred the chicken from the sandwich into a wrap. So we go back in and for the third time politely ask for a “Steak Philly Wrap”. I was appalled when the person whose job at their front counter is SUPPOSED TO BE “customer service” said that WE (THE PAYING CUSTOMERS - WHO ALSO LEFT HER A LARGE TIP ON A TAKE OUT ORDER) were the ONES WHO MESSED UP by not saying steak the first or second time (which is beyond incorrect, we all heard and know for a fact both times STEAK WRAP is what was said). Basically they were trying to be cheap and then BLAME IT ON THE CUSTOMER. At the restaurant I serve and bartend at we would NEVER get away with BLAMING A CUSTOMER. In fact we would be written up or even fired for giving such terrible customer service. Also, when an order is incorrect the FIRST TIME at my restaurant we are REQUIRED to get the MANAGER who then speaks to the customer to make sure the customer leaves happy. But we didn’t see the manager once and it gets worse, the manager then “told her to tell us that if it’s wrong again we are just going to have to get our money back and leave, they won’t remake it again because they have food costs”. The wrap was still wrong, it had no cheese on it although we had payed for extra. I was so disgusted with their service that I just left and let them keep all of the money I had just spent there, because they won’t be getting any from me again. I have worked in restaurants for 10 years now and don’t like to write bad review, but after my experience today this...
Read moreI've been going to Wingbonz since it was Wing King. My wife normally loves the place. On Saturday night of 6/18/2022, we decided to go to Wingbonz for our usual fried pickles, beer, and tenders and wings. Anytime I've ordered wings, they have always been grilled without having to specify. We sat down, and ordered our fried pickles. When they came out, they had about 3 times the normal amount of breading on them, to the point that you couldn't taste the pickle. Also the fact that the breading tasted like there was more salt than flour. Then the server came to take our food order. I ordered 10 traditional wings, half salt and vinegar, half teriyaki. The server then asks if I wanted fried or grilled, to which I responded grilled. What came out was neither teriyaki or salt and vinegar. The teriyaki wings tasted like they mixed soy sauce with a pound of salt. Suffice to say I only got one wing down before trying to wash away the taste. The salt and vinegar wings were a different story altogether. Not only did I ask for grilled, but these wings came out fried, with one shake of seasoning on them. I thought to myself, "lets just at least try it". Getting through the amount of breading on them made KFC's extra crispy, look like nothing. The sensation of the ocean flooding into your mouth is the only way I can describe the chicken and the breading. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect 5 star quality dinning when I go to Wingbonz, but what I had that night, left a little to much salt for my taste, (no pun intended). Even my wife was highly unsatisfied with the whole experience. Suffice to say, we won't be going back to the joint. It has never been what it once was, so it is time to find a new...
