I've been going to Nachomama's for a number of years and always loved all the food, especially the fish tacos. The problem is, they're not the way they used to be. When I first started going there they had some kind of a light creamy sauce kind of like coleslaw dressing, and now there's just a little liquid along with the onions and slaw, probably left over from the cooking. I still like them, but not as much as I used to. We have frequented this place during the pandemic and love their friendly drive-thru service, along with the margaritas to go! However, recently I had an experience that made me wonder about the fish tacos. I ordered one and we drove away and went to a parking lot to eat, and when I took the fish taco out of the bag it was cold. Not just cool, really cold like it had been in the refrigerator. The foil around it was cold. I didn't want to drive all the way back and wait in line again, so I just ate it cold, but it wasn't very good. When I called later to tell them about my experience, the young man I spoke with was very nice and offered me a free taco the next time I come in, he took my name. However, the fact that it was so cold made me wonder if they put their tacos in the refrigerator and warm them up, can't think of any other reason for it to be so cold. Also, after reading other reviews, it bothers me that some of the staff, maybe in the kitchen, apparently aren't wearing masks or wearing them below their nose. Whenever I've been there, the people at the drive-up window always have masks on and from what I can see everyone does, but I still wonder. I don't agree with the reviews that say the staff is rude; everyone has always been very friendly to me. They have been very efficient during covid-19 at getting their drive-thru lines, sometimes spreading out onto Manchester Road, organized. Before the pandemic, it was always nice to go inside and listen to the music, mostly '60s music, fun atmosphere. I agree with other reviewers that the salsa containers are much too small, you can't even fit a chip into them. I wish they would supply larger ones, especially since most Mexican restaurants give you chips and...
Read moreDISGUSTING! We did not like anything about this place. From the moment we walked in the door, I felt like we had just made a poor life decision. There wasn't a single clean table in the place. The floor had spills and mashed up chips everywhere. The only reason we stayed was due to being in a hurry to catch a movie. It cost $23 for two meals and one drink. They charge you even more for chips and salsa (we opted out). We got our food 30 seconds after it was ordered and wondered how it could have possibly been so fast. We got a "sweet tea" that wasn't sweetened at all and tasted as if it had been there for several days. We dumped that and tried some coca cola, and it was merely nasty flavored water. At that point we said screw the drink. We proceed to clean a table and eat. Neither of us liked our food. The beans are really runny and have no flavor. The rice is really dry and has no flavor at all. I was supposed to have gotten food I did not get. I have no clue what food I was served because it looked like slop. I then noticed the old guy at the front who just took our order, coughing all over a Rubbermaid container full of chips that he was taking out with his barehands. I no longer told my spouse to look (in disbelief), and then the other guy behind the counter joined the sick old man in shoveling out chips with their barehands from a dirty Rubbermaid container. I continued to watch in disbelief as both people repeatedly look over their shoulder to see if anyone is looking and keep digging chips out with their hands. The old guy even re-adjusted his hat and hair, ate a few bites of food over the chips, and kept digging into the chips for customers. I went to the counter again to express my disgust and was then greeted by some gnats. If I had noticed any gnats prior to this, I would have left in a heart beat. This place was disgusting and I hope anyone looking to go there will read this first. You have been warned! They need to be shut...
Read moreLogistics of waiting in line and ordering could be significantly improved and my boyfriend received the wrong meat in his burrito (he's vegetarian 😑), but the food was great! I'll definitely be back to give them another try :)
Edit: They have screwed up my boyfriend's order more than once, so he refuses to eat here now. I see them screw up other orders everytime I go. They need to change their ordering system. I always see the employee saying she didn't hear the order right...
Edit 2 years later: My now husband agreed to try this one more time today and surprise... they messed up his order 🙄 There was also a mouse running around our feet while we ate in the dinning room. Customers are allowed to self serve salsa, which I don't think is appropriate during COVID-19.
I also had a major incident here 6 months ago. I was sitting waiting for my food on an extremely busy day. They called my name outloud, but not over the intercom. Someone with the same name as me picked up my food and later returned it saying it was the wrong order. They did not bother to find me, call my name again, or remake the order. After waiting 30 minutes I went to check on my order and was told they threw it out and didn't call me back. It was another 10 minutes for them to remake it and they did a really lousy job. I actually thought after that I would never return. After the mouse incident I will not be back.
Important Note: I have celiac disease, which I inform them of when ordering and twice they have given me flour tortillas instead of corn... I guess that's the last straw. They also play gawd awful music and the girl at the front is a drama queen. Peace out...
