My wife and I came when they just opened and the food and service were incredible. Great portions and the quality of ingredients was on point.
Fast forward a couple of months and we decided to come back and order the exact thing: Menudo, Sopes and Pollo Azteca.
The service was very good and friendly but the food... Very disappointing.
The moment the Menudo was served I could tell that it was bad. It smelled like pure cumin and it look and tasted either re heated several times or canned. I've been having Menudo for years and this was by far the worst I've had. The one I had when we came months ago, was fresh and homemade. Even the server knew I wasn't going to eat it. She even said "you don't like it, right?" even before I even said anything.
The sope was made in a premade masa disk. I couldn't cut through it with their serrated knife. I had to pick it up and snap it like cracker. It was flavorless and dissapointing.
The Pollo Azteca was decent but the rice was so salty that my wife couldn't eat it and the vegetables tasted like microwave style veggies.
I don't know if they changed management yet again but I can confidently say that this is not a "having a bad day" issue. The quality has gone out the window and the they're cutting corners with their ingredients, and it shows.
The manger(s) never came to our table to address the issues and they were just a couple of feet away. The waitress was left with the task to apologize. That shows a clear symptom of why the ship is sinking
I don't forsee us coming back, especially with so many great Mexican food options in the area. Sad to see, since they started so well at first.
