Great Wall Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Rockford Township

Very unimpressed! First time there and I order shrimp egg foo young. No shrimp added and it's the first time I've ever ordered egg foo young it didn't have a brown Gravy. This also had a weird taste. See photo. Not at all have I ever had egg foo young that looked and tasted like this ever!

Secondly, ordered shrimp toast. Which is exactly that. Shrimp and toast. This also was not good. When biting into what appeared to look like shrimp toast it did not have the consistency or appearance of shrimp inside. I thought it was sausage. See photo.

Lastly, I ordered shrimp and lobster sauce. I could eat the the shrimp and it seem to be OK but lots of running egg that wasn't cooked. Ugh.

I did get another container with pea pods, shrimp, carrots in a brown sauce that I didn't order. That was someone else order that im sure when they got home wasn't happy they did t get there paid what ever it was.

Only one other couple was there so the place wasn't busy. Lots of take out order and if you paid cash they gave you a $1.00 discount.

Ate a delicious dish here years ago. Thought the restaurant closed down so when I saw that they were in business I called to place an order for the specific dish as well as other things for my families dinner. I was so excited. The woman answered and said that the item wasn't on the menu anymore. I of course called all around to see if other restaurants made something similar to no avail. I was so disappointed. I called back and asked if they would be willing to tell me about some of the ingredients that go into that dish so I could try to make something similar at home some other time. Mind you, I still had the intention of ordering other food. The woman replied in a very rude tone, "No! we don't share recipe!" Taken back I responded " Even though to don't serve the dish anymore?" To which she angrily yelled "We don't share recipe!" Dumfounded, I said ok and hung up. I didn't ask for their specific ancient Chinese secret family recipe. I was just hoping she could hint at some of their ingredients since lots of Chinese dishes vary greatly. I can tell you that after her nasty attitude we wouldn't order anything off the menu from there today or ever again. And I guess I'll Google my own recipe. What a witch!

The waiter Roberto is excellent!!! Always anticipates our needs & every time we come, he remembers what we want!! He's always smiling & consistent. I hate when employees have a different underlying energy each time i patron. As a former restaurant manager of several years, i appreciate the work ethic displayed!! The food is absolutely phenomenal!! Bravo to the cook that makes our food perfect every time!!! I am extremely picky when it comes to the way my seafood & vegetables are cooked & in general my food, especially Asian. I do not hesitate to reject. However, here i have never had to send my food back here. The bartender needs development to say the least! There was no alcohol in my volcano drink, though it was an amazing presentation with the fire. I did send it back & ordered an amazing cocktail. She was sitting at her own bar on a busy night, making no attempt to assist Roberto whom was the sole waiter on a weekend!
