If only common sense was common...
I got here at 9:15 with two friends. Ordered two lattes and a green tea. While I was paying for it, I mentioned to the cashier that it’s for here, since she didn’t ask, as I wanted to make sure the beverages are going to come in nice mugs to match the cafe’s lovely and warm ambiance, as opposed to the unpleasant, low-quality paper cups that you get anywhere else.
The cashier/manager coldly told me that their dine-in hours close at 9, but the place closes at 10. Mind you, there is an enormous stack of mugs right behind her and there are still mugs on the tables from people who ordered them 15 minutes ago. Even if the policy is a stupid one, you’re a human being. You can take an extra step to accommodate a customer’s simple request, ensuring a nice tip, experience, and overall interaction.
I know it’s not the end of the world, but this is a cafe that charges $6 for a damn tea bag. I wouldn’t walk into a 7-Eleven and expect to be served on a silver platter. Is it really worth diminishing the customer’s experience and staining your reputation because you don’t want to wash a couple extra cups?
Suffice to say, I will not be coming back to this cafe and I will spend my time and money...
Read moreSo pleased that this bakery cafe has a location in Maryland. I'd been wanting to get out to the flagship store in Chantilly for some time.
The place was clean, products fresh, and the service genuinely kind. I was surprised to see the bakery in the back buzzing and in constant motion. I even found out each of the locations have an onsite bakery setup, so the product is as fresh as can be. They also sell cakes.
I opted to try the Rose Latte, hot; a Pistachio Croffle; and the Mushroom Quiche. The latte was on point and they made it a touch sweet per my request, and the quiche was truly flavorful and actually contained a good amount of mushrooms in the filling, delicious.
I came during a busy time, so I didn't expect to find seating, and was pleased that there was to go boxes at the baked good section to use and expedite the flow of ordering and paying.
I wish there was a jar for the dirty tongs, and a bit more space for the to go waiting patrons, I felt I was in the way. It worked out because most folks were also quite nice.
I will return as a customer and look forward to the bakery sticking around as a...
Read moreBefore anything else, I just want to say that my wife and I had a cappuccino and a plain drip coffee here, and both instantly agreed it was the best basic coffee we've had in the area, no contest. Close to the richness and boldness you would find in a good Euro cafe. The atmosphere was pleasant, especially given that nearly everything in Rockville (including this) is in a strip mall, and when I had a question about one of the pastries, the staff got the chef to come out and talk to me. He was very friendly and clearly took personal pride in the food. We had one of the pistachio cream filled croissants, which was phenomenal. My only complaint is that I wish they had a few more savory items on the menu, but that speaks more to what I happen to usually want than it does to how well done the existing menu items are. Highly recommend - this place deserves...
