I’ve given Rockwall Tavern more than enough chances, but the vibe has been the same every time: cold, unwelcoming, and dismissive — from the bar staff all the way up to ownership. It’s never felt like a place that values new faces or fresh energy, and that’s a missed opportunity.
As for karaoke nights, it’s no secret there’s an inner circle. If you’re not part of it, good luck. Despite signing up early and showing up ready to contribute to the night, I’ve consistently been pushed back or overlooked. It’s hard to ignore when the same familiar faces keep rotating through while others wait endlessly.
The karaoke host (yes, you know who you are) makes it clear who’s in and who’s out. If you’re confident, talented, or don’t “fit the clique,” don’t expect fair treatment. Some people protect their spotlight at the expense of others — and that’s exactly what happens here. It’s unfortunate, because karaoke should be about building a vibe, not gatekeeping one.
It’s no wonder the place was dead last Saturday. Places that don’t grow community eventually lose it. I’m speaking up not out of hate, but because I believe people deserve to know the truth — and Rockwall deserves better than what this spot currently offers. There’s something deeply wrong with the culture at Rockwall Tavern — especially on karaoke nights.
I’ve tried multiple times to give this place a fair chance. I even brought a friend recently, hoping maybe things had changed. Instead, we were met with the same cold, gatekeeping attitude — and it went even further this time. Not only were we not allowed to sing, but I personally became the target of inappropriate comments from the mic, aimed at embarrassing or discouraging me.
Let’s be honest: there’s a gang-like mentality here. If you’re not part of their inner circle, you’re treated like an outsider — and if you’re from California, forget it. I’ve witnessed heckling aimed at people based purely on where they’re from. It’s petty, unprofessional, and it pushes away the very kind of diverse, creative energy that could make a karaoke night great.
I don’t say this lightly — I’m a professional musician who supports local scenes and other performers. Karaoke should be inclusive and fun, not controlled by a clique trying to protect their own spotlight by keeping others silent.
Rockwall Tavern could be something special — but not until they address the toxic behavior they allow to thrive...
Read moreThe lady at the bar is completely disrespectful and have the worst attitude possible to the clients, she doesn’t care about this place or even her job. Waiting over 45 min to wait for my order. She totally ignored the fact and get rude and threatening to call the police. I remark that I was aware that people get drinks before me and also the time frame to start getting her attention on dis-attendances on my order. I was happy to spend time with my friends during there’re pool tournament because that is what this place is famous for. She yelled at me asking me to leave, I replied came here with my friend that actually playing so if I leave that means my friends also going to leave in the middle of there tournament so i refused to leave and apologized to the people who’s not my friends from the game I wait 20 min to get in touch with management and nobody showed up within that time the lady bar turn up the AC 65 degrees in order to make people uncomfortable about how cool the place was. Read moreWe really like this place now, used to be the old scoreboard, and it was gross but now it is SMOKE FREE with nice pool tables and good sticks along with a great staff! Food selection is very lacking but hey it’s a bar right? Chilly, hotdogs, chips, that’s about it…. Ava, Brittney, and Taylor are the best though and alway welcoming to everyone. They have karaoke a few days a week and on weekends and lots pool events during the week days if your interested. Oh yeah and of course the legendary 10ft tall urinal in the bathroom along with what must be children...
