I was recommended here after an appointment today, and am not from Rockwall. Upon entry, I asked if there was a seating arrangement (Covid) that was to be adhered by. She didn’t understand my question. I asked because the bar top had seats all right next to each other and fairly full. Once she understood, she said I could sit one seat away from another party. I sat myself, and I asked for a menu because I’ve never been. I was handed a hot food menu and sushi paper. He asked for my drink order, but I was not ready. It took a while before I had to catch someone’s attention to ask for a cocktail menu. He proceeded to hand me very sticky menus, which also included a happy hour menu. I ordered a specialty cocktail, which turned out to not have one of the main ingredients in it. When I asked, he told me they did not make their Pear Pomegranate cocktail with pomegranate juice. I told him that would have been helpful to know prior to ordering. He offered a different cocktail, but I declined because I was trying to order a small snack and be on my way. I ordered one deep fried roll and edamame along with my cocktail. There was a black speck in my cocktail. I strawed it out (former bartender and didn’t want to make a fuss since it was already a drink not made as shown on the menu). It took a little while for both food items to come out, and the roll was cold by the time it got to me. The edamame was warm and it was a very large portion for a happy hour price. During my wait, the bar was never wiped down from guests around me leaving. Food, crumbs, and condensation covered the bar. No Bev naps were used with any customers which made it even messier.
Both bartenders at no point had their masks on. The entire staff sitting at a side table also did not have their masks on as they socialized within 6 feet. Guests coming in had to sit in dirty bar spots while one of the bartenders went and sat down and laid his head on a coworkers shoulder. Customers entering for tables were waiting as no one was greeting them at the entry. No sense of urgency to serve customers or to have a clean bar top/tables for their customers.
Very dissatisfied and disappointed in the recommendation. I will be back in Rockwall in the future, and I will not be coming back to...
Read moreI usually love this place, I used to go here all of the time but this time made me not want to come anymore: it was my birthday so I wanted to make a reservation for my family to come. I called at 11:30AM and requested for a table of 5 at 6:30 and an employee told me he can do that and checked with a manager and he said he had me down . Not ONCE was it mentioned they don’t accept reservations for less than a party of 6, the guy confirmed my reservation . My family shows up and the girl at the front said “we don’t have a table under her” I was finding a parking spot so I called and a guy spoke with a manager and said they would move us up to front of the line and was very nice and apologetic. I show up and there was 2 ladies at the front . One had short wavy hair and sweet and told the other one that we needed to be seated and immediately the other girl ( white female with long dark brown greasy hair and dark bold eyeliner) said out loud with an attitude “I don’t care we dont take reservations less than 6, I don’t care what they want , they’re gonna wait” and the short hair girl continued trying to explain the situation and the dark haired girl kept with an attitude super loud where I can hear it from the sitting area “no they’re gonna wait I don’t care” .. despite what a manager approved. We ended up waiting the 40 mins and I was extremely upset . She kept giving me an ugly look across the room and then as I was leaving she stared and continued looking at me with an attitude. It’s clear there’s a lack of communication and that one girl needs to learn how to listen to management and accommodate to a customer when it was the restaurants fault at first for losing my reservation. She also needs to fix her attitude as she is in the service industry but especially if she’s working at the front. Because of HER , I will not be coming back. How she treated us is exactly how altercations begin. I Wish I got her name , i was going to confront her for her attitude but decided to keep the peace in the restaurant and just leave and...
Read moreI dined in at Edo Japan in Rockwall a few weeks ago. My experience was awful. While extremely sweet and accommodating, the server seemed to know nothing about what beverages were on the menu. She came back 4 separate times to let us know they are out of a beer/sake that we had ordered. After going about trying to get a drink for 15 minutes we finally settled on something that was available. I ordered their sampler app, NONE of the shrimp was deveined. I bit into each shrimp on the platter and not a single one had been properly cleaned. I then ordered a shrimp based sushi roll, and you can see that in EVERY part of the roll was a shrimp that had not been deveined. I ate one piece of sushi before I realized it was throughout the entire roll. My dinner did not come out with my boyfriends, in fact it was more that 15 minutes later that my roll was ready. I ordered the fried rice as a side, that was not delivered until we were almost done eating. The rice was tasty, but thats about it. I could not finish it because I was so grossed out by the cleanliness practiced (or lack there of) of this restaurant. We just moved to Texas and I have never written a negative review of a restaurant, but this was just unacceptable. Its safe to say we will never dine here again based on our gross first experience here.
I asked the server at the end of our meal if deveining the shrimp was something they usually do, she of course did not know and had to go check... After she came back another 10 or so minutes later she told us that yes, they do devein the shrimp. I try to not complain at restaurants so when I told her about our experience she was kind enough to take off my sushi roll that hadn't been touched, but failed to ask about the shrimp filled app we ordered. No manager ever came to the table to talk to us about the shrimp. The lack of knowledge from the server, the lack of acknowledgement from management, and the disgusting kitchen practices is enough reason to stay away...
