We dined here to celebrate my MIL's birthday. There were 9 of us, with some arriving a little late since the roads were bad and they were delayed. The wait staff were understanding and at no point did we feel rushed. I can understand that having people arrive at different times may throw a wrench into timing, but they did great.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. I liked that they still have a coat closet available, which was helpful since we were all bundled up.
They had a limited wine menu, but there was a nice variety. The cocktails were imaginative and enjoyable. I shared a bottle of the riesling with my MIL, and followed that up with a limoncello spritz.
Those of us that arrived on time went ahead and ordered appetizers. I had the appetizer that was on the special menu for that night: blueberry goat cheese-stuffed jalapenos that were wrapped in prosciutto. I've had similar dishes elsewhere & am noticing a common theme: the jalapeno inside would be largely uncooked, but the protein it was wrapped with being deeply charred or overcooked to the point of crumbling. This was no different. On paper, these dishes should work, but just don't.
My husband split 2 orders of the steamed mussels with 3 others in our party. They really enjoyed them and found the broth they were served with delicious enough to merit wanting to take the remainder home. The only thing lacking was sufficient enough bread, but in all fairness, they didn't ask for more since no one wanted to fill up on that before their entrees.
My MIL ordered the wedge Caesar salad as her entree and two were delivered (?). This was very generous, but not necessary since she doesn't eat that much and ended up taking a whole salad home.
I had the lobster & shrimp pasta and really enjoyed it. It was a very good combination and the angel hair pasta was not overcooked, which is easy to occur. My husband had the fried chicken dinner, which he liked, but the mashed potatoes arrived bare -- he used butter and had to request extra gravy that had been put onto the chicken.
Other items ordered in our group: fried green tomatoes, oysters, lobster bisque, bouillabaisse, the surf & turf special, pan roasted salmon, fish & chip, jambalaya, an assortment of cocktails, and a chocolate milk.
All told, our total bill including gratuity & tax was $720. They do not split bills, but allow for charging across multiple cards as long as you figure it out on your own how much to charge each card...
Read moreMet a close friend for happy hour at the bar. The one bartender with dark hair was super sweet. However she dropped the ball twice. We placed our order, she walked away, we changed our mind on lobster rissotto, we got her attention and let her know we both wanted the salad. She said no worries I haven't put it in yet. A few minutes later our appetizers came... mussell's with andouille sausage in tomato sauce. Half of the mussells were not even open And there was so much tomato sauce it was disappointing. Once we were cleared a few minutes later, the next course came out. We had ordered salmon Dave salad with salmon however only one salad showed up with the rissotto. We told the server who ran the food what happened, she took the rissotto away went behind the bar to let our bartender know. We see the bartender order on the register. About 10-12 minutes later the other salad shows up meanwhile, my salad The salmon was now cold and the greens were wilted and overdressed. Our sweet bartender brought the rissotto back out which now was dried out after sitting under the headlamps. She said she was sorry amd that she bought us two glasses of wine to make up for it. The other bartender, who was a blonde haired middle-aged woman had an attitude....She came bye to ask how everything was, we were honest about our experience. She walked away shaking her head at the computer. Quite unprofessional! I pay good money when I go out. I don't need some server giving me attitude!!! Especially when they're hoping that i'm going to tip them well. We got the check and we're still charged for the rissotto which we tried but did not eat. If you don't care about your customer's experience don't ask them how everything is. And if you can't keep your personal feelings/ judgements in check, You're in the wrong business. If you can't get orders right then you need to rethink your capabilities to be a server/bartender. I hope the owners see this and call the blonde older woman out.. I Don't think I will be back. I have gone to blue point Many times and had wonderful professional service and wonderfully prepared food. It's a shame rocky river...
Read moreWe ate at Salmon Dave's for our anniversary, and this was our first time visiting the restaurant. We've lived in the area for about a year but waited to visit this place. Now I wish I went sooner.
We felt well taken care of. The staff checked up on us consistently without being obtrusive. They were helpful with me making decisions between menu items as it's my first time here. Some particular notes are when we went to order the crab cakes as an appetizer and our server noted that the appetizer only comes with one crab cake, which saved us confusion and time. Instead we ordered the blue crab cocktail from the raw bar menu and it was some of the best crab I've ever had. Neither my husband or I drink alcohol but didn't see any mocktails on the menu, only soda. We asked if there were any mocktails not on the menu and she listed many options. I had the best non-alcoholic moscow mule I've ever had.
My husband loved his lobster roll and as we were raised in New England, we can be picky about lobster. It was cooked really well and well filled. My pan roasted salmon was so moist without being undercooked. The lobster risotto was unbelievable. The complementary creme brulee for our anniversary was just the icing on the cake. They clearly care about the patrons and want them to have a good experience and put pride in their food and establishment....
