My wife and I had been at a function on the near west side where the food offerings were only so-so, which led us to dropping into Burntwood Tavern. It was after 9:30pm when we arrived and I must admit I had some concerns about how we would be received seeing as they close at 10. As we walked in, we saw the staff tending to what appeared to be expected closing duties. I will just say that ended abruptly the second Virginia saw us walk in. She instantly made us feel like invited guests and greeted us enthusiastically with a warm smile we could even see behind her mask. We asked if their kitchen was still open and Virginia was beyond accommodating when she answered "of course!" Olivia was also behind the bar and was equally pleasant and accommodating. We assured them both that we would be quick, knowing they were close to closing time but they both told us that was not necessary and to take all the time we needed. We got our drinks and placed an order to share some appetizers then had the chance to chat while we waited. I cannot say enough how welcome they both made us feel. We ordered the crab cakes, chicken sliders and of course, the Burntwood Tots (because, Burntwood Tots--if you know, you know). Our food came out quickly and we enjoyed every bite. After we ate and were finishing our drinks, the manager Tracy came by to see how everything was and we ended up in conversation with her as well as she answered our questions about how and where Burntwood got started and other random topics of conversation. Throughout our visit we shared more than a few laughs with our new friends and despite being last minute customers, we were treated as nothing short of VIPs. We cannot say enough good things about our experience and only wish we didn't live on the far east side so we could be closer. That said, we will definitely make the trip back. In a world where customer service is a seemingly forgotten art, this was an absolutely outstanding experience. Thank you Virginia, Olivia and Tracy--we hope to see you again soon! Ron...
Read moreSo much for being classy. The first time I was at this place. I ordered their wings and the meat was so dry. It tasted like a day old wings that being reheated in a microwave to served us. Then came the entrée which was a pasta dish that they no longer have on their menu when I went back the second time (thanks god) because the sauce was so watery, as if they didn't take the time to drain the pasta well enough before putting the source in. Plus my friend ordered a beer that was served without a glass! So classy right? They expect a lady to drink a beer out of the bottle. I told myself I would not come back. For the price that I pay, I expect to at least being able to enjoy my food.
Here comes the second visit. Only because it was at the request of the birthday girl. I wanted to surprise her so I went there before hand to give them the cake and asked if they could bring it out when we asked for our bill. They are very nice and accommodating. I thought may be I was wrong about this place and hope that may be they would redeem my patron this time. Well, the food still a flop. I ordered a flatbread and it tasted no better than the frozen one brought at a grocery store and cook it in an oven. After we received the bill, there was no sign of the birthday cake. Finally, the server came out with the cake still in the box and candles was not lit! (he didn't know that there are candles on the cake). He said he didn't know about the cake, nobody told him about the cake. Yes, I wonder why nobody tell you about the cake. Oh well, good thing he had a lighter on him. To top it all off he asked my friend "What are you drinking bud?" to refill his drink. So much for being classy at this place. I am not looking forward to go back anytime soon.
I give this place two stars because the manager seems nice except that he took the cake and forgot to tell our server. The bartender was nice to us when we were waiting for our table. The food and the service from our...
Read moreBaby Shower: could not have asked for a better experience! We had the 'patio' with the fireplace for my daughter-in-law's baby shower and the setting was perfect for 60 people. All fit comfortably and the room was warm and set up beautifully. We were able to come in an hour early and decorate, as well as bring our own store-bought bakeries. Parking was easy on both sides of the main door, so no one had to walk far.
I looked at (at least 10) other locations for the shower; all of which had added fee's on top of room fee, bar fee, etc. Burntwood was the best price for SO many amenities that we didn't have to pay extra for. We did opt to pay for linens for the tables, which was well worth it. We had a Mimosa bar, which was manned by a staff member, and we did a 'Host Bar' where people could order what they wanted at the bar. The food was favorably commented on by many of the guests as to how good it all was!
Jamie, the catering Manager worked with my many questions, and graciously replied quickly, answering all our needs. Liz and a team of 2 other hostesses were present from the time we walked in, to the time we left the event. If I can tell you how AMAZING they were to our party, I cannot find enough words to express the impeccable customer service they offered! It went SO smooth, and they were always there for every need during the event. This team was truly the example of great leadership at Burntwood. As a manager myself, and years of customer service in the retail sector, I have to say, Burntwood Tavern, their management, catering team, service, food, cozy atmosphere and enthusiasm for our event was A+. I would absolutely call on them for any future event. A huge THANK YOU to Jamie, Liz and her team for making our baby...
